Lavish Polish Shades of Autumn

Like Pumpkin Patch and Fall Festival, Shades of Autumn was released last month by California-based indie polish maker Lavish Polish as part of the Fall 2016 collection. It's a medium-dark true purple holo along the lines of HTML/CSS or patriarch purple. Though deep, the color is clean, rich and vibrant. Abundant finely-milled holographic pigment imbues it with hues of ultramarine, indigo, spangled azure and red-violet in ambient light. In the sun, there's a brilliant linear prismatic display predominated by twin sparkling arcs of azure and bright red framing a lick of semi-metallic silvery purple and shading to deep byzantium around the edges of the nail.

Application was dreamy. The consistency of Shades of Autumn is fluid, light and very smooth with a medium viscosity and a silky, self-leveling slip over the nail. Pigmentation is excellent, delivering wearably opaque coverage in only one coat, although I used two for the photos. Cleanup is easy. Shades of Autumn dries naturally in very good time to a beautiful shiny finish. Topcoat does not appear to affect the holographic properties in any way.

So much oomph to this beautiful rich purple! The holographic effects are bright and lively, great for those times when you want your purple holo to really show its stuff. It will also make an excellent after dark polish as well as it has an eye-catching red-violet flash under incandescent light.

All three of the polishes that I've tried from Lavish's Fall 2016 collection have impressed me with their well-pigmented, user-friendly formulas, powerful holographic effects and gorgeous, dimensional color. Gonna keep an eye on this brand!

Lavish Polish Seductive Heels

Seductive Heels was released in late January 2016 by California-based indie polish maker Lavish Polish as part of the Lustful Trio for Valentine's Day 2016. Creator Emely describes it as a "cherry red holo base with flashes of violet and gold shimmer." The color is a medium-dark variation of ruby along the lines of Pantone's rubine red, deep but vivid. Abundant tiny microflake shimmers in violet and gold are easy to see thanks to a degree of built-in translucence to the formula, and add a twinkling effect to the polish's glowing semi-metallic crimson underlay. The holographic effects are subtle but add dimension, depth and a bit of sparkle, and in the sun there's a dispersed linear prismatic display with an arc of glowing violet (which my camera refused to pick up) and tiny sparks of prismatic color punctuated by flashes of violet and bright red from the microflakes.

Application was wonderful. The consistency of Seductive Heels is fluid, light and smooth with a thin-to-medium viscosity and a silky, self-leveling slip over the nail. Pigmentation is excellent, delivering wearably opaque coverage in one coat, although you'll want two for full bottle color. Cleanup requires a bit of care due to pigment travel and trace staining. Seductive Heels dries naturally in very good time to a smooth shiny finish. Topcoat enhances the presence and effects of the microflake shimmers and does not appear to affect the holographic properties in any way.

This beautiful, glowing shimmery red holo is perfect for holiday wear and displays a nice bright crimson flash under incandescent light. It deepens considerably in low light to gorgeous vampy-looking dark ruby red. Very nice!

Lavish Polish Fall Festival

Like Pumpkin Patch, Fall Festival was released in October this year by California-based indie polish maker Lavish Polish as part of the Fall 2016 collection. It is officially described as an emerald green, and baby that is spot on! It's a medium-dark shade similar to pine but less dense, more resplendent, with just the right amount of blue in there to make it precisely emerald. We're talking Elizabeth Taylor Bulgari emeralds here, not pale little garden-filled stones. The color has the saturated yet lucid quality that Emely manages to coax from her pigments, with wonderful holographic nuancing to the base in hues of cerulean, teal, spangled spring green and rich deep bottle green in ambient light. In the sun there's a brilliant, analogously-hued linear prismatic display with bright, sparkling arcs of azure, spring green and olivine framing a glistening blaze of silvery pine and shading to sumptuous emerald at the edges of the nail.

Application was fabulous. The consistency of Fall Festival is fluid, smooth and dense with a medium viscosity that I thinned a bit at the outset. Thinned, it had a lush, velvety glide over the nail, easy to control and a joy to finesse with Lavish's somewhat bushy flattened-style brush. Pigmentation is excellent. Even, wearably opaque coverage can be had in one coat, although you'll want a second for full bottle color. Cleanup was remarkably easy for a saturated blue-ish green, with a tiny bit of pigment travel and trace staining, but as long as you haven't flooded a cuticle or sidewall you should be fine. Fall Festival dries naturally in very good time to a smooth, shiny finish. Topcoat does not affect the holographic properties in any way that I could tell and actually seems to emphasize the dimensionality of the look.

The holo effects and blue tones are very activated in my photos. In person, especially in circumstances where the light is less direct, what you see is a lively, radiant emerald green. It's absolutely stunning and perfect for the jewel tones of winter.

Lavish Polish Nudie Booty

Today's lacquer is Nudie Booty from California-based indie polish maker Lavish Polish. The provenance of Nudie Booty is shrouded in mystery, but I do know that it's been around since March 2014 at least. So, an oldie but a goodie!

Nudie Booty is -- surprise! -- a nude holographic polish. The color is a light semi-translucent beige with a kiss of grey and maybe the barest wink of pink to it, resulting in a beautiful pale creamy latte or tea-with-milk kind of shade. Abundant finely-milled holographic pigment adds a delicate twinkle of pale gold in bright ambient light, and in the sun there's a sweet scattered prismatic display with tiny sparks in opalescent hues of pale blue and green.

Application was stellar. The consistency of Nudie Booty is fluid, light and creamy with a thin-to-medium viscosity and a silky, even, self-leveling slip over the nail -- a creme/jelly hybrid sort of formula that is a delight to work with. A little goes a long way with this polish, no need for a heavily loaded brush. Pigmentation is very good for a formula with built-in translucence, delivering wearable opacity with the barest skosh of visible nail line in two coats. I used three for the photos, but it didn't change the appearance of the color. Cleanup is easy. Nudie Booty dries naturally in very good time to a beautiful glossy finish.

When I saw this polish in Lavish's online shop, my exaggerated covet response went into overdrive. Buy ALL the nude holos! Adding fuel to the fire was Emely's note in the description: "It's a must have because to appreciate the beauty of this you have to see it in person." Ok, then! It certainly is beautiful and very graceful as well. It has a delicate, lucid quality and is ungrudgingly flattering -- the perfect character shoe for your nails!

Lavish Polish Pumpkin Patch

Pumpkin Patch was just released this month by California-based indie polish maker Lavish Polish as part of the Fall 2016 collection. While creator Emely describes this a burnt orange holo, the color is a little brighter and cleaner than what I usually think of for burnt orange. I'd call it a medium-toned Spanish orange, a beautiful, robust, grounded shade with enough red to it to make it perfectly resonant for fall. Abundant finely-milled holographic pigment reads as pale gold within the base and creates a shimmering effect in certain viewing circumstances, with a demi-flare of misty marigold, flame and delicate hints of violet in ambient light. In the sun, there's a sparkling linear prismatic display that has a whisper-thin inner arc of azure and spring green mixed edged by a sparkling ribbon of orange and red, the whole floating over a glistening lick of semi-metallic silvery orange.

Application was fantastic. The consistency of Pumpkin Patch is fluid, light and super smooth with a medium viscosity and a fluent, silky, self-leveling slip over the nail -- a user-friendly creme/jelly hybrid sort of formula that is a pleasure to work with. Pigmentation is excellent for a formula with a degree of translucence built into it. It's actually wearably opaque in one coat. Adding a second deepens the color and gives it a denser look, and that's what I recommend. Cleanup is easy. Pumpkin Patch dries naturally in very good time to a smooth, shiny finish. Topcoat does not affect the holographic properties in any way.

Lavish Polish Pumpkin Patch

Lavish is new to me and I'm loving this gorgeous autumnal orange holo! I was enticed to explore the brand for myself by Amy McG.'s review of the Fall 2016 collection on Polish Etc., here. Based on my experience with Pumpkin Patch, I totally agree with her praise. I'm looking forward to trying the others that I purchased!
