Top Shelf Lacquer Hammered

Another Top Shelf Lacquer Drunken Creme Fall Holo!

Today's feature is Hammered, which is described as a burgundy creme holographic polish. A lot of folks enjoy this kind of color for fall and if you're one of them, rejoice -- this polish is a beauty! The color is a creamy darker purplish red with a subtly warm aspect, a plush, expressive hue that is slightly more plummy than oxblood but similar in terms of depth and saturation. There's a sensuousness to it, a certain je ne sais quoi that reminds me of cashmere and silk velvet and chocolate -- smooth, dense, comforting. Finely-milled holographic pigment is visible as tiny silvery motes that add a pleasant hint of dustiness to its qualities, and there's a delicate scattered holographic display in the sun that slips into a beautifully gradated prismatic flare at oblique angles.

Application was a thing of beauty. *lol* Really! I can't say enough good things about the formulas in this collection. To a one, they have a fluid, light, creamy consistency with a thin-to-medium consistency (my favorite) and a fluent, even, self-leveling slip over the nail that just makes you really happy to be painting your nails. Excellent pigmentation, a one-coater for some -- I used two. Cleanup is easy, with very little pigment travel for a darkened red and no residual staining to speak of. Like the others, Hammered dries naturally in very good time to a smooth, shiny finish.

Photos show two coats of Hammered over basecoat with a topcoat of Seche Vite.

Excellent! I love this. While the color is almost dark enough to be considered vampy, it's not so dark that you can't see the richness of it. It's less dramatic than what I typically think of as vampy, but what it may lack in drama it more than makes up for in a relaxed, graceful, comfortably feminine sensibility that just hits all the right autumnal notes for me. Maybe for you, too! My second favorite from the collection so far, after Inebriated.

xo,
Liz
