KBShimmer Quick and Flirty

Quick and Flirty was released by indie polish maker KBShimmer as part of the Spring 2014 collection this past March. It's a medium-toned dusky violet linear holo polish with ultrafine holographic pigments that deliver a super strong linear holographic display in direct light and do so without creating the metallic sheen common to the finish of many linear holos. The sensitivity of the holo pigments in this polish are such that even in indirect light the prismatic flair is easily seen and subtly influences the violet base with its colors. After dark, this polish throws a bright coppery flash under incandescent light. In short, Quick and Flirty is everything you could ask for from a linear holo.

Application was lovely. The consistency of Quick and Flirty is fluid and buttery, with a smooth easy slip over the nail and excellent self-leveling properties. I enjoy KBShimmer's brushes so much, they are of the flat variety, relatively wide compared to round brushes, with abundant flexible bristles that make getting good coverage quickly and easily a snap. Pigmentation of Quick and Flirty is very good with some sheerness on the first coat that builds easily to opacity with the second. Christy recommends three coats for richest color and that's what I did. I'll add that this polish is quite user-friendly and forgiving of application mishaps and repairs (ask me how I know, ha!). Cleanup, too, is easy and straightforward with no trace of staining left behind. Quick and Flirty dries naturally in very good time to a smooth finish with what seems to me to be an usually glossy shine for a holo.

Photos show three coats of Quick and Flirty over treatment and basecoat with a topcoat of Glisten and Glow HK Girl. Once again, please forgive the uneven length across my nails. I have a feeling it'll stay that way for the foreseeable future, or at least until little miss pinky nail grows out to a length where I'm comfortable taking down the rest of them.

This one is just too lively and linear in the sun not to include some direct sun shots.

In an opposite effect from Stark Raven Mad, here we have a holographic display that is so powerful in direct light that it all but swallows the base color! The colors in the rainbow flair are actually even more strongly delineated than my photos show, it's quite striking. Fuzzy, who has been shown many, many holos, was particularly delighted by this one. I was so proud!

love,
Liz
