ILNP Honor Roll
Today's ILNP polish, Honor Roll, is from the Ultra Holo Summer 2015 series. This is a medium-dark sapphire blue holographic polish bearing both small particle and larger irregularly-shaped flake holo pigments. It's described on the ILNP site as navy, but if you know me and my navy aesthetic, it's pretty clear that this is a much brighter, cleaner blue than what I would classify as navy. It is, nevertheless, a rich and robust color that makes a perfect canvas for the holographic effects, which are considerable. Especially in direct sun, where the polish explodes into a fiercely sparkling, delineated prismatic display with a central flair of bright ultramarine bordered by slender twinkling ribbons of bright blue, green, red and violet before shading to a deeper sapphire around the edges of the nail. Stunning!
In indirect and low light, the holo flakes stipple the sapphire with flecks of silver that randomly flash rainbow colors at various angles. There is less of the holo-nuanced shading to the sapphire base color than I was hoping for, but small particle holo pigment always adds a certain dimensionality to the look of a polish and Honor Roll is no exception. A central blaze of bright sapphire surrounded by pinpoint sparks of prismatic color emerges when the light hits it just right.
Application was wonderful. Every single polish that I've tried from ILNP's Summer 2015 releases has had an exceptional formula, and so it is with Honor Roll. The consistency is fluid, light and silky smooth with an easy, self-leveling glide over the nail and a beautifully-balanced viscosity for painting. Pigmentation is very good with even opaque coverage achievable in two coats. Cleanup is easy and straightforward with just a skosh of pigment travel but no residual staining. Honor Roll dries naturally in good time to a smooth shiny finish.

Honor Roll put on an audacious display at the gym. The staff at the check-in counter complimented me on my nails. Then I'm sitting there on this machine doing lat pulls, struggling to get my back to do the work instead of my shoulders, and suddenly I notice that Tory is staring at my hands. "I'm watching the colors go up and down your nails," she says. Eye-catching, literally!
love,
Liz
I was on a limited budget and bought 4 of the new polishes. I want to get this one and Paige, and maybe one of the Mega ones next. This one is so gorgeous! Looks wonderful on your nails.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! Honor Roll is a lovely polish to wear, I had it on for two days (usually I only wear a polish for a day at a time) and other people really seemed to like it too. I wore it during a visit to the GI suite over at our local VA Medical Center where my significant other was undergoing a colonoscopy, and the staff there loved it. Dark blue is the ribbon color for colon cancer. They knew right away why I was wearing it.
DeleteI had a hard time choosing between Paige and Closure and ended up with Closure, which turns out to be a pretty cerise color, but I think Paige is the more unusual of the two. Definitely get yourself a Mega!
