Different Dimension Naughty

Naughty is another polish from the recently released Homespun Holidays collection by Indiana-based indie polish maker Different Dimension. Officially described as a rich cherry red holo, the color is an utterly brilliant medium crimson, an intensely vivid cool red with warm overtones that is lush and dense and full of energy. Abundant finely-milled holographic pigment reads as tiny motes of gold within the base and gives it a gleaming semi-metallic primary red underlay as well as a subtle arc of glowing violet in ambient light. In the sun, there's a slightly subdued but sparkling linear prismatic display predominated by a nearly fluorescent mix of indigo and violet edged by a ribbon of bright red.

Application was delicious. The consistency of Naughty is fluid, creamy and dense with a medium viscosity and a velvety, self-leveling glide over the nail that has a bit of pull to it and sets up fairly quickly, especially if you paint in thin coats. Pigmentation is excellent, with wearably opaque coverage in one coat, but two ensures most even opacity and fullest, richest color. Cleanup is remarkably trouble-free for such a well-pigmented red, with a tiny bit of pigment travel but little to no residual staining, hooray! Naughty dries naturally in very good time to a beautiful shiny finish. Topcoat does not appear to affect the holographic properties at all.

Photos show two coats of Naughty over Pretty Serious All Your Base ridge-filling basecoat with a topcoat of Seche Vite.

This is just awesome -- so vivid and vital, an incredible pick-me-up! There's a trace of sexy pin-up to it also, I think, a little suave spark of retro bombshell flair that says "well yes, now that you mention it, I AM dressed to kill!" It reminds me of lipstick and makes me think of Chanel ยบ5, which my mother wore on especially dressy occasions when I was little and which I always associate with glorious, glittering, late-night grown-up festivities.

Love it! I just can't get enough of these brilliant holiday reds!

Liz
