Orly Star Spangled

Eleanor, I have a polish to show you that may be more to your mom's taste than yours but I have to tell you, I've NEVER had a polish on my nails that I couldn't stop looking at the way I can't stop looking at this one. It's red and it is TDF to the max.

It's called Star Spangled and it's by Orly. Star Spangled is a deep bright cherry red jelly swimming with bright red microglitters. It's very well-pigmented for a jelly but it definitely has a jelly's glowy translucence. The microglitters refract light through the rich red layers of polish like tiny light bulbs. Deep and vampy around the edges and glowing like an ember in the center, it is stunning I tell you! You cannot look away!

I showed Star Spangled to Fuzzy and she actually gasped. Beautiful, she said. Then, go change your clothes you can't wear sweatpants with that! For the record, I wasn't wearing sweatpants. But I doubt that there are any clothes in my closet that are fit to wear with this beauty.

Application was... interesting. The jelly base is kinda scary, very dark and syrupy. Like blood. But it's not runny, thank heaven. It has enough viscosity to it to stay where you put it. Of course with my shaky hands that doesn't make application any less hair-raising. Imagine a world where a long wanded-brush loaded with blood-red nail polish comes at you vibrating and shaking like an old Volvo 240 with a bad cylinder. Run! Run away!

So it's nothing short of a miracle that I actually got this stuff on my nails. Coverage was impressive, I reached opacity in two coats. Over that I added a coat of Seche Vite and the glossiness oomphed up the mojo of this polish even more. Inconceivable!

I doubt that my photos do justice to Star Spangled. But then this is one of those polishes that must be seen in person, in action to really get the full effect.

Ach, du! Slay me now! Now, while I have these glossy glowing red scarabs on my fingertips! So bewitching. And super sexy, makes me feel like hand model -- don't laugh! I don't think I can bear to remove this without provocation so if you don't hear from me for a couple of days you'll know it's wearing well.

This polish reminds me of a scene from Gone With The Wind. I think Rhett and Scarlett are on their honeymoon cruise. Scarlett sits on the bed admiring her finery while Rhett struts back and forth.

Rhett: Whatcha thinkin' 'bout Scahlet?

Scarlett: How rich we ah!

Now pardon me, I must go swan about the house, throw myself upon the chaise lounge and stare at my finger nails....

love,
Aunt Liz

    1. *lol* You know, YOU are the reason I remember that scene from Gone With The Wind! You quoted it once, I can still hear you saying "How rich we ah!" Do you remember?

Do you like this red? It would be awesome on your toenails. Sparkly! It removes well too, doesn't stain. I was betting it would but it doesn't. Pedicure, my dear?
