88mph is a tribute to the time-traveling Delorean from the movie Back To The Future. It's called 88mph because the car had to go 88 miles per hour in order to time travel. Hey have you seen this movie, Eleanor? Because you would like it and I'm pretty sure it's one that your parents would approve of. We can watch it next time I'm up to visit!
Strange but true family facts: Deloreans are very rare cars (there were only about 9200 of them made during 1981-82) but we had one in the family. Our cousin Scott owned a Delorean for a while. Even after it got hit and totaled by another car one night when he forgot to turn the lights on before turning onto a Florida state highway, he still kept it in garage storage. Deloreans had body panels made of burnished steel, no paint on them, and had gullwing doors. Very cool, here's a pic I swiped off of another polish enthusiast's blog:

88mph is a textured polish, meaning it dries naturally to a rough gritty surface. It is a pewter colored glitter bomb with gold, copper and silver microglitters and tiny holographic hex glitters. Fabulous! The texture of the formula is slightly thick but light and loamy and easy to apply. I applied two coats over basecoats for the photos.
I have lots and lots and lots of pics of this one. I just love it! I took a bunch of pics of it as it dries naturally with the textured surface. Then I applied topcoat and took more pics. It took several coats to achieve a smooth surface, which isn't unusual for a polish like this. I used two coats of Gelous, a type of basecoat that some brilliant individual discovered was great for smoothing glitter polishes. After the two layers of Gelous I applied one coat of Seche Vite to cap it and help all the layers dry.
Photos were taken in the upstairs bathroom, in the kitchen under the halogen lights and outside in the pen. In short, everywhere!

I could go on, but you get the idea. This is such a deeply cool polish! I love how those holographic rainbow sparks spring out of the organic gravelly metallic surface, it makes this polish feel like a secret weapon. And those holo glitters are active as soon as the least bit of light hits them, so like all the time. I love the metallic grey granite-like color, it's extremely flattering on the nail and not too dark for summer. I think I like the glossy finish best, but mostly because I know that the topcoat will protect the polish from chipping, as I suspect it might be prone to do in its natural finish. I could be wrong there, but I would worry about it anyway. The extra topcoat also helps to bolster up those holo glitters (as if they need bolstering, ha).
88mph is a bottle full of awesome. As Fuzzy says, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
