ILNP Abundance

Abundance was released not too long ago by indie polish maker I Love Nail Polish (ILNP) as part of the Fall 2014 collection. It's a medium metallic coppery brown based multichrome that shifts colors within a spectrum of orange/red/bronze/gold/green. This is my first multichrome from ILNP, whose multichromes, or Ultra Chromes as they call them, are a specialty of the brand and wildly popular with many polish enthusiasts. Abundance is a gorgeous, autumnal shifter with any number of its colors making appearances simultaneously on the nail in indirect light. I love the gilded chestnut base color, but probably my favorite of the shifts is to a deep rosy reddish burgundy with grassy olive green showing up around the edges. There's a fantastic flame color that appears also, a perfect blood orange that accompanies the burgundy and looks altogether like a sunset on your nails.

Application was fabulous. The consistency of Abundance is fluid, smooth and dense with a velvety glide over the nail and very good self-leveling properties. Pigmentation is also very good. A little bit of sheerness on the first coat builds easily to completely opaque even coverage with two coats. As a metallic, this polish does have the propensity to show brushstrokes, but they smooth out significantly with topcoat and are not easily noticed unless you're looking for them. Cleanup is easy and straightforward. Abundance dries naturally in very good time to a glossy finish. As I mentioned, topcoat helpfully diffuses the appearance of brushstrokes.

Photos show two coats of Abundance over treatment and basecoat with a topcoat of Seche Vite.

And here's what the base color looks like in direct sun, a rich coppery brown with a golden flash....

ILNP's tagline for Abundance is "Fall in a Bottle" and you can see why! The colors are rich and autumnally arboreal. It's a perfect polish to wear in the cooler days of fall, when the days shorten and the deciduous trees are changing over from green to reds, oranges, golds and browns. Could there be any better representation of this time of year in a nail polish? I'm not sure there could!

love,
Liz
