Zoya Ivanka

Ivanka was released by Zoya as part of the Sparkle collection for summer 2010. It is officially described as a "mermaid green sparkling metallic." I'd say this is a medium toned vibrant emerald green glass fleck shimmer with a touch of green to blue duochromatic action at extreme angles. It has a slightly murky foresty green translucent base bearing abundant emerald green glass flecks that light up to a bright grassy green sparkle in almost any kind of light. Ivanka is a gorgeous, lively, joyful green that leans to the cooler end of the spectrum with an intense glass fleck sparkle that gives it a foily semi-metallic look, especially in dimmer lighting.

Application was a matter of layering. This polish has a very fluid consistency and likes to go on in thin coats. With a translucent base, it's essentially the glass flecks that provide coverage, so it must be built to opacity with multiple coats. The first coat is very sheer, the second less so but still showing visible nail line especially in direct light. Three coats are best for full rich bottle color and the most opaque coverage, although if you use very thin coats you may opt for a fourth. Not especially problematic providing you use a fast dry topcoat to ensure drying of all the layers. Though the formula is thin, it's easy to work with and doesn't flood or pool or otherwise misbehave. You can patch an area that needs extra coverage and the patch melts down into the polish and becomes invisible -- very user friendly! Cleanup is easy also, even with the glass flecks. Ivanka dries naturally in average time to a smooth shiny finish. Topcoat helps to bring out the blue shift in the glass flecks and pops the color generally.

Photos show three coats of Ivanka over treatment and basecoat with a topcoat of Glisten and Glow HK Girl.

Ivanka has been the darling of green-loving polish enthusiasts around the globe since its release, and I dare say it's one of the most well-known and popular mainstream greens out there. Of its brilliant color, I think fanrosa from Lacquer Quest said it best in her review of this polish: "Ivanka is a beautiful emerald green.  Not that shade of emeralds that you and I own, but the shade of emeralds that most people couldn’t afford in two lifetimes."

love,
Liz
