This polish has a medium-dark silvery blue violet base with loads of fine holographic pigment in it that produces a brilliant linear prismatic display in direct light along with, and I'm guessing here because I really don't have a clue, what could be duochromatic green pigments with a shift to pink at certain angles in certain lights. Whatever it is, this singular component elevates the coolness of what would be a lovely violet holo exponentially, piquing the eye with its sly but overt bright green presence that slides over the curvature of the nail to melt away into violet along the edges. Profoundly and unapologetically audacious but with a mysterious slightly melancholy air to it, this polish is very very very cool.
Application was fabulous. The consistency of Maddening Whispers is fluid and creamy with excellent painting viscosity, superb slip over the nail and exceptional self-leveling properties. It's a perfect formula, really. Pigmentation is also excellent, with good coverage and opacity at just one medium coat. I used two to make the most of the components in the polish, and you could even do three and not have too much polish on your nails. Cleanup is easy and straightforward with no traces of staining. Maddening Whispers dries naturally in good time to a smooth shiny finish. Topcoat seems to enhance the green color shift.
Photos show two coats of Maddening Whispers over treatment and basecoat with a topcoat of Seche Vite. Lighting is key to the delicious chameleon-esque qualities of this pretty puppy, with even small changes in indirect lighting producing a new attitude. All I can say is, holy moly this polish is fly!

As you can see, blue takes predominance in the holographic display and this effect is subtly apparent even in indirect light, which gives the violet a slight denim tone at times. Actually, when I first applied Maddening Whispers it reminded me of nothing so much as a pair of sulphur dyed unsanfordized jeans. You know how some jeans have a yellowish greenish cast to the weathering and the indigo color has a blackish look? Those are the ones.
I am loving this batch of Femme Fatales I got from Color4Nails so much that I may have to go back for more. They've all been holos, but they're complex holos with other effects and components in addition to the holo. I find them fascinating to look at and a blast to wear. They're like nothing else I've seen out there on the polish interwebz. If you like distinctive holos, you must take a look at Femme Fatale's holographic offerings. They are big fun!

This is a stunning color! I love all of the different things going on with it. It looks very unique in the shade but of course since I'm all about holo, I love it in the sun.
