WingDust Olive Me Hearts Olive You

Today I have a lovely fall green to show you from indie polish maker WingDust Collections, Olive Me Hearts Olive You. I saw this pretty puppy swatched by Courtney of swatcher, polish ranger recently, which immediately elicited my exaggerated covet response. It wasn't available in Stephanie's etsy shop (so it isn't a new polish), but luckily I was able to find it online at Llarowe.

Olive Me Hearts Olive You is a creme/jelly hybrid in a medium-toned olivey artichoke green filled with relatively large irregularly-shaped flaky shimmers in gold and iridescent blue as well as smaller flaky shimmers in gunmetal and a dusting of iridescent pale purple particle shimmer. The base is semi-translucent and catches and holds light, allowing all the iridescent bits to glow from within the dusky green layers. It has a wonderful soft almost neutral look punctuated by sparks of color from the components, very understated and graceful.

Application was dreamy. The consistency is fluid, creamy and dense giving a nice even flow over the nail with a little tumbling of the larger-sized components. Pigmentation is buildable. I used three coats for even opaque coverage, but those with shorter nails may be able to get away with two. Cleanup is easy except for the flakies, which stick to skin and cuticles like nobody' business. Fortunately this polish applies so nicely that I needed only a little cleanup. Olive Me Hearts Olive You dries in average time to a smooth shiny finish. Topcoat pops the colors and sparkle of the components.

Photos show three coats of Olive Me Hearts Olive You over treatment and basecoat with a topcoat of Seche Vite. Please pardon the random fuchsia glitters wedged in my cuticles, remnants of a less than stellar job removing yesterday's You Autumn Know manicure. My bad!

I just love this soft green, it's earthy but tender and so nicely balanced. It has enough grey in it to be particularly flattering, too. The flakies and shimmers are especially sparkly in low light, giving this subdued color a bit of secret drama. It's a keeper!

love,
Liz

    1. *lol* A "so ugly it's pretty" kinda way? It's an unusual color, which I like, and beautifully constructed. But when I got ready to post this I looked over the pics and winced, my torqued nails and chubby fingers do it no justice. You can see prettier pics of it on Courtney at swatcher, polish ranger http://www.swatcherpolishranger.com/2014/09/wingdust-wednesday-olive-me-hearts.html and on Tia at Iced Lacquer http://www.icedlacquer.com/2014/05/wingdust-wednesday-new-colors.html
