ILNP Closure

Today's sparkling red polish is brought to you by ILNP! Closure was released at the beginning of this month as part of the Summer 2015 Ultra Holo series of polishes. It has a medium-dark cool-leaning red base brimming with holographic pigment. I'm going to assume (because, you know, I really am an ass) that the holo pigment in this polish is similar to what I've seen in the other ultra holos, but Closure has a slightly different, less flecky look. The flakes seem smaller and more regularly shaped that those in Missed Calls, Paper Route and Honor Roll. They are still large enough to provide the plentiful sparkle of a scattered holo, but the overall look is smoother, with less visual texture than the others. For me, Closure is more about the color, which, when combined with the holo pigment, appears as a glorious well-saturated cerise or pinkish crimson. There's a delicious prismatic flare in direct sun predominated by red and glowing violet sparks that shades to a rich apple red at the edges of the nail. In indirect light the vibrant cerise coloring is intensely feminine with a spirited flirty blanket of rainbow sparkle.

Application-wise, Closure is on par with the other ILNP summer offerings I've tried. The formula is fantastic, with a fluid, light, creamy consistency that is a dream to work with. Self-leveling properties are excellent -- my ridges disappeared with the first coat, always a cause for celebration. Pigmentation is very good with completely even opaque coverage after two coats. Cleanup is easy and straightforward with only the tiniest bit of pigment travel. I've read in other reviews of slight  staining, but I did not notice this during cleanup. If I do experience staining upon removal, I'll add a postscript. Closure dries naturally in good time to a smooth shiny finish that looks even better with a glossy topcoat.

Photos show two coats of Closure over Pretty Serious Rock On treatment and Pretty Serious All Your Base basecoat and a topcoat of Seche Vite.

This color is wonderful! It has the sort of prettiness that just naturally imparts an extra fluttery finesse to your finger movements, and you can see it catching the eyes of the bank teller and the cashier at the grocery checkout. In low incandescent light, the color deepens to wine and the polish takes on a glowing golden sheen. I think it's my favorite of the Summer 2015 ultra holos I got, although I still have one more to show you.

Beauty!

love,
Liz

    1. Thank you, Lara! It's hard to imagine Closure looking less than gorgeous on anyone, I bet it looked fantastic on you too. Such a pretty, feminine polish! Those glowing violet sparks are something else, they're the coolest part of the holo display on this one, I think. Thank you for the lovely compliment, I'm happy that you enjoyed the review!
