Emily de Molly Veiled Flame

Like Gilded Grove, Veiled Flame was released by Australian indie polish maker Emily de Molly at the beginning of May this year. This is a medium-dark plummy purple creme/jelly hybrid bearing superabundant copper shimmers. The color has a creamy quality with a hint of duskiness that reminds me of Byzantium purple, but not so dark. A touch of warmth to the purple is enhanced by the shimmers that glow from within the polish in fabulous fiery shades of red, magenta and orange in addition to copper -- perfect for fall. They give the polish a lit-from-within look on the nail with hot coal colors that are just stunning with the purple base.

Application was lovely. The consistency of Veiled Flame is fluid, light and very creamy, with a buttery glide over the nail and excellent self-leveling properties. This polish likes to go on in medium coats with a generously loaded brush. It's a fast-drying polish and not particularly fond of overstroking. Pigmentation is very good with wearably opaque coverage in two coats, although I used three for this manicure. Cleanup is easy and straightforward. Veiled Flame dries naturally in very good time to a nice glossy finish. Topcoat enhances the presence and colors of the shimmers.

Photos show three coats of Veiled Flame over treatment and basecoat with a topcoat of Seche Vite.

It was heavily overcast here today so I didn't get a chance to see Veiled Flame in direct sun, but it was GORGEOUS under the uber sympathetic lighting at the gym with the copper shimmers beaming from within the dusky purple. Prepare for purple lovers to get all grabby hands when they see this polish!

love,
Liz
