Il Était Un Vernis Girls Night Out

Like Radioactive Love, Girls Night Out was released last month by French boutique polish maker Il Était Un Vernis as part of the Juice Bar collection. Described as a deep blue with a velvety holographic finish and light metallic shimmer, the color is true, rich dark blue that reminds me of Swarovski's dark sapphire shade. It is fairly inscrutable in low light, but in bright ambient light it has the hallmark delicate graining and dimensional interior illumination of finely-milled holographic pigment, with an added glow courtesy of infinitesimally tiny silver particulate shimmers. There's a beautiful prismatic bloom in direct sun, where the color brightens to a lush medium blue along the axis of light, edged by bright sparks of blue and green. 

Application was dreamy. The consistency of Girls Night Out is fluid, dense and creamy with a medium viscosity and a velvety, self-leveling glide over the nail, a high-quality, user-friendly, eminently-paintable formula just as I've learned to expect from this brand. So nice! Pigmentation is excellent, definitely a one-coater but you'll want two for the extra depth and richness it brings to the color. Cleanup is straightforward with a little pigment travel and a hint of trace staining, but by and large it cleans up beautifully. Girls Night Out dries naturally in very good time to a smooth, shiny finish.
