Vapid Lacquer Polarize

Polarize by Vapid has been around since 2015 at least and I believe it's part of the core line. It's described as a navy holo, but I think that it's more vibrant and accessible than that, like something along the lines of pigment blue or a medium-dark phthalo blue. As with all of Vapid's holo, the prismatic effects are rich and linear, giving the polish a deep ultramarine heart supplemented by holographically-nuanced shades of Pacific blue and luminous dark cerulean with sea green sparks in ambient light for a bold, oceanic sensibility. We're currently under overcast skies here in central NC today, but I expect to see a linear prismatic display predominated by arcs of blue and green in the sun.

Application was wonderful. The consistency of Polarize is fluid, light and smooth with a thin-to-medium viscosity and a fluent, silky, self-leveling slip over the nail. Pigmentation is outstanding, a true one-coater, although I did add a second coat to finesse lines left wanting on the first. Didn't alter the color, though! There's a bit of pigment travel during cleanup, as you might expect from a dark, saturated blue, and just a hint of trace staining -- nothing major. Polarize dries naturally in very good time to a smooth, shiny finish. Topcoat does not inhibit the holographic properties of the polish in any way.

Photos show two coats of Polarize over basecoat with a topcoat of Seche Vite.

This deep blue somehow manages to retain its essential blueness even in low light, perhaps due to the remarkable glowing cerulean aspect I mentioned earlier, which I'm sad to see doesn't show up nearly as well in my photos as it does in person. Polarize puts me in mind of deep ocean waters, but calm, not storm-tossed. There's a majestic quality to it, a sense of power and mystery in benevolent repose.... *lol* Or something like that -- you'll see what I mean when you try it! Suffice to say that it's a beautiful shade, graceful and elegant in the way of dark blue polishes, with some evocative touches courtesy of the holographic effects. Love!

    1. As I live and breathe, it's Lara! What a treat to see you here! Yes, isn't it pretty? Has an awesome formula and didn't stain my nails either, for the win! I hope you are well. I was thinking about you during Harvey.
