Butter London Snog

I'm not sure exactly when Butter London released Snog. I know that it was offered as part of a trio called Bright On with Slapper and Marrow in 2012, and that a matching Snog lippy also came out that year, but I'm afraid I've come up empty handed as far as a confirmed original release collection and date. If anyone reading this has that information, I'd be very much obliged if you were to leave it in a comment at the end of this post!

Snog is described by Butter London as a bright hot pink creme, and I would add the adjective "dark" to that. Snog is a deep saturated intense floral Mexican pink, a purplish pink tone of the color rose. Mexican pink is said to be comparable to certain varieties of bougainvillea, but it reminds me of roses. It's an extremely beautiful nail color, vivid, lively and feminine.

Application of this polish should be a no-brainer. It has a great consistency, fluid and creamy, and the pigmentation is outstanding. Unfortunately I had a bad case of shaky hands when I went to apply this beauty, but my application woes are not relevant generally because if Snog were any more perfect to apply it would paint itself onto your nails. As badly as my Snog job needed cleanup, I did manage to botch that a bit too. Insult to injury! Ply your cleanup brush dampened with acetone, not dripping as I did, and you'll have no problems. Snog dries naturally in good time to a glossy finish.

Photos show two coats of Snog over treatment and basecoat with a topcoat of HK Girl. My apologies for the messy cleanup.

My camera has tendency to oversaturate bright pinks. While Snog is certainly intense, it is not as fluorescent as it appears in the pics. It's a perfect dark pink for spring and summer. I know from the reviews I read that many polish enthusiasts adore this polish for a summer pedicure. I can definitely see this on my niece Eleanor's sweet piggies! It's a one-coater and dries quickly, it'd be perfect! I wonder if she'd stay still long enough for me to paint them?

love,
Liz

  1. Normally I don't like polishes that are red but I really like this one. I'd gladly wear it. It's a beautiful shade and perfect for summer. It kind of reminds me of OPI Charged Up Cherry, which I have, but maybe a tad more red.

    1. My photos make it look more red than it really is. It's actually a beautiful strong dark rosy pink. I don't have Charged Up Cherry but from photos I've seen, I think you're right about the comparison, Melissa.
