Application was mostly uncomplicated. The consistency of Phantom Planet is light and very fluid with slightly fluffy or foamy quality. Coverage is pretty good. The first coat is quite sheer and you see a lot of the murky tinted suspension base. With two coats, the multichrome glitters begin to build up nicely. Three coats is best for complete opacity and full richness of color. Cleanup is a little bit of a trial only because the platelet glitters fly up in horror at the first touch of acetone and quickly redeposit themselves everywhere you don't want them to be. You can clearly see this in my photos. Phantom Planet dries naturally in longer than average time to a smooth shiny finish. This is one where you'll want a fast dry topcoat to ensure that all the layers dry and protect the vulnerable finish from accidental marring.
Photos show three coats of Phantom Planet over Seche Rebuild treatment and Butter London Nail Foundation basecoat with a topcoat of HK Girl.

There's nothing like a dynamic multichrome to renew a polish enthusiast's wonder and awe. This one does it for me, big time! The shifts in Phantom Planet incorporate some of my favorite blue and green hues, dreamy and aquatic but also lively as all get out. And I adore a speckled foily finish. Wearing this is kind of a surreal experience. About two hours after I finished this manicure I was standing in front of a south facing window and went to scratch my nose and was actually startled by the brilliant aquamarine pools shimmering on my nails.
Never a dull moment! *lol*

This is very pretty! I don't have any duochrome polishes but I'm sure it's fun to see the color shift in person.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Melissa! You know, I never saw the attraction of multichromatic polish until I actually tried one last summer. It was Butter London's Knackered and wearing it completely changed my feelings about this kind of polish. You've got to try one and see how it feels to wear it! ILNP makes some fantastic multichromes that are beautiful and easy to get along with, you could start with one of those!
