OPI Grape Set Match

Grape Set Match was released by OPI in collaboration with tennis great Serena Williams as part of its Glam Slam England collection in June 2011, to coincide with Wimbledon. It's a gorgeous medium-dark red-violet shimmer polish with boatloads of scintillating blue and fuchsia shimmers in a violet-leaning purple base. Highly reflective with a violet flash along the axis of light, this polish also possesses some apparent purple/red-violet/violet multichromatic goodness that is notable in the bottle but can also be seen on the nail.

Application was lovely. The consistency is thin, fluid and light but stays where you put it without running. It applies beautifully with OPI's pro-wide brush in thin coats that are smooth, even and self-levelling. Grape Set Match is blessedly forgiving for a shimmer polish, and two patch-ins I made were easily incorporated into the polish as it dried. One of those patches was at the cuticle of a nail that I'd taken too much polish off of with my cleanup brush *groan* --  am I the only one who does this? Pigmentation is ok. This polish is thin and requires multiple coats to get the most out of the fabulous rich color. Grape Set Match dries naturally in very good time to a smooth shiny finish. Sweet!

Photos show three coats of Grape Set Match over treatment and basecoat with a topcoat of HK Girl to pop the color and shimmers as much as possible.

Awesome! I'm going to love any polish that applies as impeccably as this one does. Add the spectacular shimmery composition and color of Grape Set Match and it's just happy polish enthusiast heaven in a bottle. This is a flashy attention-attracting polish that throws blue and fuchsia sparks in the sun. I am compelled to adore it.

love,
Liz
