Addendum: Finger Paints Sparkle in the Sky -- Glossy!

After wearing Finger Paints Sparkle in the Sky matte for a day, I decided to see what it would be like with a nice glossy topcoat. I used my favorite topcoat sandwich for this: a layer of Seche Vite followed by a layer of Nail Pattern Boldness Glitter Food followed by another layer of Seche Vite. The result was glossy with only a hint of texture from the gritty natural finish of Sparkle in the Sky. The topcoat deepened the navy blue base and intensified the scintillating glittery sparkle. Beautiful!

Photos show the Sparkle in the Sky manicure of my last post with three layers of topcoat.

Sparkle in the Sky is definitely worth seeking out, it's a fun sparkly polish that looks good matte or glossy. I found mine at Sally's on sale for $3.49.

I don't know of any places locally (Durham Raleigh Chapel Hill triangle, NC) to go dusty hunting and it's something that finding this polish has piqued my curiosity about. (whoa, awkward sentence construction alert!) I've never done it! It's not the same as finding something on sale, is it? I guess it could be, right? If anyone has a favorite dusting hunting tale or has come up with a clarifying definition of what dusty hunting is, please share!

love,
Liz

  1. It's so stunning with top coat! I just love the way it sparkles. It's gorgeous. I read about dusty hunting a while ago and it seems like it would be fun to find rare and hard to find polishes for great prices. Still, there's not many places near me that would have things like that. The only times I've ever gotten lucky was the one time I found a bottle of OPI Absolutely Alice that was being sold at the normal OPI price and and another time when I found a random bottle of China Glaze Jolly Holly, which I don't know if I would consider it a dusty, but I had been wanting it for such a long time.

  2. This is super pretty! I love how topcoats transform texture polishes and bring out the sparkle tenfold. I need to check out my sallys, I'm in need of a dark texture like this. I haven't gone dusty hunting in a long while, but mostly because I don't have any success here in LA. I think there must be a rule against selling used polishes here, otherwise I would have scored that bottle of DS Glamour. Ugh. I've had better success in the bay area where I found a bottle of ChG Kaleidoscope holo and OPI Absolutely Alice. I know of a girl on TPF that scored a ton of dusties while hunting... DS GLamour, the ChG holos, etc. It doesn't hurt to pop in in ask, especially if you're hunting those DS polishes!!
