ILNP Luna

Luna is another offering from the newly released Ultra Chrome Flakies line by indie polish maker I Love Nail Polish (ILNP). Like the others, it has multichromatic metallic flakies in a transparent suspension base. Luna's primary color shift is from purple to cerulean blue, with a spectacular color spectrum of purple/magenta/red/teal/cerulean with bits of grass green, olive green, gold and orange showing up as well. In direct light the predominant color is purple, with teal and cerulean blue creeping in at oblique angles. The most inclusive view of its impressive range of colors is in indirect light or shade, where you can see almost all of them simultaneously at any given time.

Application was great. The consistency is fluid and slightly thick but eminently paintable. I used four coats for the coverage you see in the photos and had no problems with application other than areas of sheerness on the tips and at the edges, but some of that is to be expected with a polish where coverage is provided solely by the components. Like the other Ultra Chrome Flakies I have tried, Luna dries naturally in very good time to a silky smooth, shiny finish.

Photos show four coats of Luna over treatment and basecoat with a topcoat of Seche Vite. Pardon the loose random flakies that appear on my nail environs -- this one got a little messy and my cleanup was not stellar.

This polish is bursting with peacock color goodness! I think it would also be spectacular layered over a purple or green metallic. Sorry I didn't get any direct sun photos for you -- the purple came out too dark in the few I took.

love,
Liz
