I have a fierce covet response to vibrant coral pink polishes that began over twenty-five years ago with a perfervid attachment to a particular Borghese shade, the name of which is lost to time unfortunately but no matter. I spotted it gracing the perfectly-pedied toes of a colleague and was hooked. It was creamy and radiant and bursting with the heady fruity/floral exuberance that for me is the signature evocation of this kind of hue. Deep Sea Coral is just such a color, a medium-toned rosy Floridian coral pink bearing minute microflake shimmers in blue and purple. The shimmers have a delicate twinkle in the sun and give the polish an ethereal violet sheen.
Application was such a pleasure! The consistency of Deep Sea Coral is fluid, light and creamy with a thinner viscosity and an effortless, self-leveling slip over the nail. Pigmentation is very good, providing wearable coverage in two coats for smooth, regular nailbeds. A touch of light-suffusing translucence to the creme/jelly hybrid formula required a third to completely camouflage my ridges, faintly visible as darkened streaks beneath the surface of the polish at two coats. Cleanup is easy and fairly straightforward -- the tiny shimmers, loosed by acetone, happily disperse over the nail environs but give it up with a good handwashing. Deep Sea Coral dries naturally in very good time to a smooth shiny finish. Topcoat adds a becoming gloss and enhances the presence and effects of the shimmers.
Photos show three coats of Deep Sea Coral over Pretty Serious Rock On treatment and Pretty Serious All Your Base basecoat with a topcoat of Seche Vite.
