Application was amazing. The consistency of Champagne Rain is fluid, light and surprisingly smooth with a thicker viscosity than I am comfortable with so I added some polish thinner at the outset. Once thinned, it went on beautifully with an even, fluent glide over the nail -- no stacking or stickups at all. Self-leveling properties are excellent as is glitter payoff -- the microglitters go on so evenly that you could easily wear as a sheer in one coat, and opaque coverage can be had in only two medium coats, insanely good for a glitterbomb like this. Cleanup also surprised me by being much easier than I expected. Acetone does free up those tiny glitters to free range over the nail environs, but most of them will disappear with a good handwashing. Champagne Rain dries naturally in very good time to a sandy textured finish that will eat right through a single layer of topcoat so if you like a glassy finish, plan on double topcoating.
Photos show two coats of Champagne Rain over treatment and basecoat with a surface-smoothing layer of Pretty Serious Plump Up the Volume followed by a layer of Seche Vite.

I think the thing I love most about Champagne Rain is just how very stealthy it is. Out of the sun it's a quiet neutral, with only the visual interest of its dimensionality to hint at its potential. Then in direct light, BOOM! Max insane bling!
My sister and her family have been visiting. They departed this afternoon for the drive back to Charlottesville, but not before I got to expose them to the prismatic wonders of Champagne Rain. "OMG!" they all cried out, everyone except for Fuzzy, who hollered "Oh no!" *lol*
love,
Liz
Well, from the first, I was expecting another sandy golden glitterbomb. But then the photos rolled up and my jaw dropped. I love it. Do my eyes deceive me or does this polish not look like anything else I've seen? I thought for sure I would have a dupe of it but nope, nothing even remotely like it. And I don't remember seeing anything online that quite looks like that. I love a beige-y or sandy nude with holo and have quite a few. I thought (LOL) that I was done with getting more polishes in this vein. Hah! Your photos are so beautiful, it looks so gorgeous on you! Wonderful picturesque review!
ReplyDeleteI should set up one of my polish wall racks to hold the polishes I get because of you! Could name it Liz-inspired. Heheheh
I have a few nude/neutral holos and none are like this one. It's a true stealth glitterbomb, with that great sandy look out of direct light and the intense explosion of sparkle in the sun. Highly recommended!
DeleteThank you for your kind words, always music to my ears (so to speak)!
I just placed a Different Dimension order with the 40% sale *wheee*, and as I was trying to figure out what to order I revisited this review and laughed out loud (uproariously) at the part where Fuzzy bellows in protest :D she's the best
ReplyDeleteFuzzy gets the laugh! She'll enjoy knowing this.
DeleteDifferent Dimension makes some of my favorite glitterbombs, including this one, which is FABULOUS. 40% off is a steal. You go, girl!
