Different Dimension YWPimpin

Like Champagne Rain, YWPimpin was released last month by Indiana-based indie polish maker Different Dimension as part of the Let Them Eat Glitter collection, created by Missi in collaboration with Nicole from Young Wild & Polished. Officially described as "a gunmetal holographic polish with added gold flakies, sterling silver plated flakies and gold holographic microglitters," this is a silvery hematite grey polish with a soft but bright metallic reflectivity and loads of gorgeous visual texture to the finish. Holographic pigment gives the base an on-tone speckled look interspersed with clearly visible variously-sized flakes of gleaming gold and silver, as well as twinkling prismatic sparks from the holographic microglitters. Direct sun generates an extra-sparkly linear prismatic display, with slender bands of every rainbow color framing a central lick of metallic lemony gold.

Application was fantastic. The consistency of YWPimpin is fluid, smooth and dense with a medium viscosity and a velvety glide over the nail that has a gentle pull to it. The components apply without issue save the occasional stickup, easily manipulated into place with an extra stroke of Different Dimension's slightly bushy flattened flexible brush. Self-leveling properties are excellent as is coverage, with close to one-coat opacity. Two coats nets completely even opaque coverage and full bottle color. Cleanup is easiest to do as you go along while the polish is still wet, with a bit of stickiness and dispersal of the gold and silver flakes even so. YWPimpin dries naturally in very good time to a shiny finish with a slightly pebbly discernible texture that is mostly smoothed with topcoat. Topcoat does not interfere with the holographic effects of the polish in any way.

Photos show two coats of YWPimpin over treatment and basecoat with a topcoat of Seche Vite.

The holographic effects are almost akin to gilding the lily on this one -- almost, but not quite! Rainbows are always a delight, but I love the holo more for what it does for the polish out of direct light. Such a sleek, sophisticated look that is not without a certain ornate quality -- I do love everything about this polish! Missi does a wonderful job with her mixed-metal formulations, and I think this is my favorite yet. It's a testament to the careful construction that you can actually see all of the individual elements, and the rippling reflectivity of the visual texture with its mosaic of tiny flakes, prismatic twinkle and bright, burnished aspect just sends me! It's industrial chic with an artisanal, crafted elegance, loads of engaging light play and a neutral base color that will look great with everything!

Absolutely gorgeous!

love,
Liz
