A-England Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose

Today's polish is the last of the four that make up the Sargent's Vision collection recently released by British boutique polish maker A-England. Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose is named for the oil painting by Anglo-American artist John Singer Sargent (1856-1925) that served as Adina's inspiration for the colors in this collection.

The base color of this polish is a pale tint of lavender along the lines of the web color lavender or lavender mist, as it's called in artistic contexts, with a strong silvery aspect courtesy of superabundant holographic pigment, which also gives the polish a delicately-grained visual texture. The holographically-generated bloom is more obviously prismatic and noticeable in ambient light than in the other two paler holos of the collection, displaying a dimensional, mobile, gradated flush of pink, pale yellow and azure edged by translucent violet that is just poignantly beautiful and visible even in very low light. In the sun, the colors and sparkle intensify to a fully-fledged prismatic flare that shades to a lavender grey at the sidewalls of the nail.

Application was primo. The consistency of Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose is fluid and creamy with a medium viscosity and a silky smooth, self-leveling slip over the nail. Pigmentation is very good, delivering evenly opaque coverage in two coats, although I used three for the photos. Cleanup is easy. Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose dries naturally in very good time to a smooth, shiny finish. Topcoat does not in any way inhibit the holographic properties of the polish.

Photos show three coats of Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose over treatment and basecoat with a topcoat of Seche Vite.

This sort of gently-tinted, silvery holo is classically A-England, and even though I feel like I've seen it before, as in the polishes from the Ballerina collection for example, the exquisite, dimensional prismatic flush still managed to take my breath away. It's just an incredibly lovely, graceful and elegant look!

love,
Liz
