Cirque Lolly Lips

Lolly Lips was released at the end of April/beginning of May this year by NYC-based indie polish maker Cirque Colors as a limited edition part of the Kawaii collection. Constructed similarly to its stablemate QT Kitty and officially described as a raspberry pink holographic flake polish, the color is a medium to medium-dark cool vibrant pink with a rosy, floral quality along the lines of Mexican pink or Pantone's pink, slightly cooler and sharper than what I generally think of as raspberry. Superabundant holographic flakes create a silver-flecked visual texture, add a slight semi-metallic sensibility to the finish, and generate a warm, sparkling prismatic flush in ambient light that increases in intensity in the sun.

Application was most agreeable! The consistency of Lolly Lips is fluid, smooth and dense with a medium-to-thicker viscosity to which I added a bit of polish thinner at the outset. Thinned, it had a fluent, even, self-leveling glide over the nail that went on best for me in medium coats from a well-loaded brush. Pigmentation is excellent, with near one-coat coverage. A second coat deepens the look to full bottle color. Cleanup is easy, although those holographic flakes do like to stick to the nail a little bit. Lolly Lips dries naturally in very good time to a fairly shiny finish with a tiny bit of discernible texture that is easily smoothed by topcoat.

Photos show two coats of Lolly Lips over treatment and basecoat with a topcoat of Seche Vite.

This is a beautiful, bold, pan-seasonal shade, equally at home with the jewel-tones of winter as the brights of summer. The semi-metallic aspect of the finish gives it a bit of that festive, gift-wrap ribbon quality that I love, and the prismatic properties of the holographic flakes add loads of visual interest and a flush of warmth to the coolness of the base color. There a certain voguishness to it also that speaks to feminine confidence and strength. A power pink!

love,
Liz
