Colors by Llarowe Bananas and Krispy Kremes are Better Than HBO

Bananas and Krispy Kremes are Better Than HBO was released in February 2016 by Colorado-based indie polish maker Colors by Llarowe as part of the Krispy Kreme Dreams collection, a series of six polishes inspired by creator Leah Ann's consumption of certain foods before bed to induce vivid dreams, which apparently was an unmitigated success!

Officially described as an almost neon yellow-green holo, "the color of a green banana," the color here is a particularly fresh and radiant variation of chartreuse that's like a mix of lime or spring bud and lawn green. It is luminous but not fluorescent, sort of an inchworm hue. Abundant superfine holographic pigment reads as lemony gold within the base and gives the polish a delicious, dimensional silky quality on the nail. In the sun, there's a gorgeous, analogously-hued loose linear prismatic display predominated by a expansive arc of lemon yellow edged with bright sparks of pale turquoise and spring green. 

Application was yummy. The consistency of Bananas and Krispy Cremes are Better Than HBO is fluid, light and creamy with a medium-to-thinner viscosity and a luxuriously buttery, self-leveling slip over the nail. Pigmentation is very good to excellent for such a light color. Slight sheerness on the first coat builds easily to wearably opaque coverage with the second. Cleanup is easy, with no discernible pigment travel or trace staining. Bananas and Krispy Cremes are Better Than HBO dries naturally in very good time to a silky-smooth, matte finish. Topcoat accentuates the sparkle of the holographic pigment particles and actually serves to maximize the polish's holographic effects.

This is a beautiful light but bright green, a fresher, less strident alternative to neon for summer that's just as attention-grabbing. I went downstairs to check on Fuzzy with this on my nails and she spotted it from across the room, the second I walked through the door: "Oooh! Look at your nails!"
