Girly Bits Brick House

Like Stayin' Alive, Brick House was released in May this year by Canadian indie polish maker Girly Bits as part of the disco-themed Sequins and Satin Pants collection. It's named for the 1977 hit song "Brick House" by the Commodores.

Described as a watermelon jelly holo filled with holo microglitter, shimmer and holo flakes, the color is a translucent but saturated and vibrant medium-toned shade of rosy pinkish red with aspirations to neon. It reminds me a lot of folly except it's a tiny bit rosier, a perfect watermelon candy shade. Holographic microglitters spangle the base with bright, twinkling prismatic sparks and red metallic shimmers give it a flashy semi-metallic underlay under incandescent light, while abundant holographic pigment dimensionalizes the look with analogous hues of radical red, deep pink, hollywood cerise and rose.

Application was mahvelous, dahling. The consistency of Brick House is fluid and light with a thinner-to-medium viscosity and a fluent, remarkably compliant glide over the nail that goes on naturally in thin coats. The components are quite well-behaved and apply without stacking or stickups and only a few attempted protrusions over the free edge. Self-leveling properties are very good as is pigmentation. Wearable opacity can be had in two to three coats -- I used three. Cleanup is a bit of a bear as the polish is full of sticky components that are also freed up in the process, ensconcing themselves in the sidewalls and over the nail environs. Brick House dries naturally in very good time to a shiny, gently-textured finish.

Photos show three coats of Brick House over ÜNT Ready for Takeoff peel-off basecoat with a topcoat of Girly Bits Glitter Glaze.

Party polish! The color alone is energetic enough -- add all of that sparkle and shimmer and it's like complete and utter exuberance for your nails! I really love wearing polishes like this!
