Zoya Reva

Reva was released by Zoya as part of its Sunshine collection for summer 2011. Zoya describes it as a "cool toned strawberry red with glowing golden metallic sparkle" and I agree. It's a medium dark well-saturated berry red with abundant golden shimmers. The cool red of the base and the warmth of the gold shimmer combine to produce various sunset colors, flame, blood orange, pink, depending upon how the light hits it. The red has a tropical air to it and I can see why it was released with a summer collection. But the sparkly shimmers and the depth of the red also make it a lovely "gift wrap ribbon" sort of color that's nice any time of the year.

Application was a breeze. The consistency is fluid and light and easy to control. Pigmentation is great with bottle color and full opacity reached in two coats. Clean up is a lot about sweeping up the golden shimmers, which go everywhere once the acetone hits the polish. Reva dries in good time to a shiny smooth finish.

Photos show two coats of Reva over treatment and basecoat with a topcoat of Seche Vite.

This is one of those types of polishes that Zoya does so well, where the shimmer that takes on the look of a glass fleck in certain lights. It's got a happy lightness and buoyancy to it together with a festive flair. Perfect for when you're in the mood for red but don't want something too dark, moody or dramatic.

love,
