Elevation Polish Ave Secretan

Ave Secretan was released by indie polish maker Elevation Polish as part of its Buttes-Chaumont collection in February 2013. Lulu, the owner and creative force behind Elevation Polish, describes it as a "beautiful Punch Pink/Red crème with an incredibly high shine finish." It's a medium-dark well saturated shade of ruby red with deep fuchsia pink nuances like the blush off of a candied apple, all the more endearing because of it's formula, which is perfection.

So as you can probably guess, application was a delight. The consistency is fluid and light with perfect viscosity for painting. I had no problems with application that weren't of my own making, and I can tell you that this is certainly a very forgiving polish. It has excellent self-leveling properties and applies smoothly and evenly without pooling, bubbling, patching, ghosting or any other lacquer funny business. Pigmentation is also excellent. This polish is so evenly pigmented and well-blended that you can wear it at one coat, and you'll need no more than two for rich, deep color. Lulu is known for her brilliantly formulated cremes and Ave Secretan has got to be one of her best. It's everything you could ask for in a creme, including a high gloss finish, to which it dries naturally in very good time.

Photos show two coats of Ave Secretan (pronounced a-VEY seh-crey-TOHN, or thereabouts... hey, it's FRENCH!) over Seche Rebuild treatment and Butter London Nail Foundation basecoat with a topcoat of Seche Vite (also FRENCH!). You know by now how my camera adds heat to pinks and reds, so I struggled a little with this one because it's definitively cool in tone.

In person Ave Secretan is a little bit darker and cooler, not as "primary" as what I see in the photos. In direct sun, it's a brilliant candied raspberry and under incandescent lighting, a deep blood red. I think it's prettiest face shows up in bright indirect natural light, where it is a perfect vibrant deep ruby color. Its native glossiness gives it a retro luster that is very glamorous, but Ave Secretan is without pretense. It's a natural beauty.

This polish has been sold out in Elevation's big cartel shop for the month of April, but should be restocked tonight, 7 May, at 9pm CDT.

Sweet, sweet polish!

love,
Liz
