Nire's Desire Transatlantic

Nire's Desire is a new-to-me indie polish maker owned and run by Erin Hargrove of Windsor, CO. I'd seen some of her beautiful polishes swatched on The Crumpet and then came across swatches of some of her Techno Collection Phase Two polishes on Will Paint Nails for Food. Among them was Transatlantic, a gorgeous deep dark atlantic blue holo with just the right amount of seawater green to it. Had to have it! I popped on over to Erin's etsy store and quicker than you can say clickety-click, it was on its way to me. 

Transatlantic is a beautifully formulated polish. The consistency is fluid, creamy and dense and reminded me of the texture of a england's polishes. It's a joy in this world to paint with such a silky responsive lacquer! Packaged in a graceful unique lyre-shaped bottle with a tall polished black cap, the brush is relatively wide and flat, perfect for smooth easy application. Pigmentation was excellent, with near-opaque coverage in one coat and complete opacity and full bottle color achieved in two medium coats. Cleanup was straightforward and even though I managed to flood one of my cuticles it cleaned up without staining, which is great for such a well-pigmented blue polish. Transatlantic dries naturally in very good time to a smooth glossy finish. Topcoat enhanced the gloss and did not detract from the polish's holographic properties.

Photos were taken in indirect natural light and show two coats of Transatlantic over treatment and basecoat with a topcoat of HK Girl.

We have some heavily overcast skies with pending storms today here in NC, so I took a couple of pics under the kitchen halogens so you could see what Transatlantic gets up to in more direct light.

I absolutely adore this deep murky mysterious color! And the prismatic holo display is the perfect complement, with blue and green subtly predominating the linear flair. I suppose this is one of those  "loosely linear" or "tightly scattered" holos. Although the holographic pigment particle size is very fine, it's not as densely packed as a linear holo and the prismatic flair is not as relentless. The base color is really the star of this show. And what a color! Tempestuous and moody, just as you'd want to see in an atlantic blue, with a glossy gleaming presence on the nail.
