Ellagee The Importance of Body Language

The Importance of Body Language was released by indie polish maker Ellagee as part of the Villainous Holo-ween collection in September 2014. It's a blackened violet with blue overtones bearing the tiniest of silvery flake shimmers and a modicum of fine holographic pigment. I really like this polish -- we're having a cool overcast day here today with scattered showers and this polish is suiting me down to a T. It reminds me a little of a murky violet version of China Glaze Midnight Mission, only with flake instead of particulate shimmers. The silver flakes are a genius touch, they keep the deep violet from feeling too heavy on the nail and from looking black in dim light, plus they sparkle like anything in direct light. The holo effects in this polish are subtle but effective. They add a nice incidental crop of rainbow sparks to the look overall, provide some blue-toned dimensional nuancing to the base color and, in bright direct light, reveal a linear prismatic flair with a central flame of blue edged by red, yellow and and green sparkles. On the nail, this polish has a heathered denim look with a sleek, put-together feel.

Application was quite agreeable. The consistency of The Importance of Body Language is fluid, creamy and dense with a bit of pull to it and an even, self-leveling flow over the nail. This polish dries quickly and thickens with exposure to air so I added a bit of polish thinner and gave it a good shake a couple of times as I went along. It likes to go on in medium coats with a nice bead of polish on the flattened, flexible brush and stays where you put it, no pooling. Pigmentation is very good with completely even opaque coverage in two coats. Cleanup is easy and straightforward, although I did find a bevy of tiny silver flakes adorning the environs of one nail that required more cleanup than the others. The Importance of Body Language dries naturally in very good time to a smooth finish that loves a topcoat to look its best.

Photos show two coats of The Importance of Body Language over treatment and basecoat with a topcoat of Seche Vite.

This polish is named for a quote by Ursula the Sea Witch, the main antagonist in Disney's 28th animated film, The Little Mermaid. I have never seen this movie *gasp* but one look at the DisneyWiki entry for Ursula and I could see the inspiration for the color scheme....

Of course, I like The Importance of Body Language very much without a clue about the movie, but I think Laura did a great job with this villianess-inspired Halloween polish! And for some of us, any day can be Halloween....

love,
Liz

p.s. A big {{hug}} to the lovely Marisa of Tiny Twinklings, who gifted me this wonderful polish!
