KBShimmer Lei It Again

Lei It Again was released by indie polish maker KBShimmer as one of the tropics-inspired faded neons from the Summer 2015 collection last month. Christy describes this as a bright electric pink. It's a whitened hot pink neon with a certain floral rosiness to it that keeps it from being too stark or artificial. In the bottle, Lei It Again seems ultra cool-toned, especially compared to the warmth of yesterday's Bahama Drama. It brightens considerably once on the nail, and the rosy quality of the color emerges, tempering its fluorescence with an unabashed sweetness. It's bold, but not brazen.

Application was double plus good. The consistency of Lei It Again is on par with the other polishes in this series: fluid, smooth and creamy. It has some pull to it and enjoys going on in medium coats with a generous bead of polish on the brush. Overstroking should be avoided as it will eventually pull patches, especially if you are working with thinner coats. But it wasn't quite as streaky and self-leveled a little better than some of its stablemates, and I could see how someone with the right touch could pull off wearable, even opacity in two coats. That's not me, of course. Three coats was what worked for me and my ridges, with a generous layer of topcoat to even everything out. Cleanup was easy with just a little bit of pigment travel. Lei It Again dries naturally in very good time to a smooth satiny finish.

So pretty! If Aphrodite wore neon polish, she would wear this one. It's a neon version of the queen conch's pink aperture. What better color for the nails of a goddess risen from the sea?

As much as I like Lei It Again and Bahama Drama, Leggo My Mango is still my favorite of the faded neons I've tried from KBShimmer's Summer 2015 collection. I think it captures the faded neon concept most perfectly with its whitened orange sherbet hue that still manages to produce the edgy fluorescent zing that neons are known for. But the whole faded neon series is wonderful and so much fun! I may yet go back for that purple....
