Cirque Panacea

Like Xochitl, Panacea was released in April 2014 by NYC-based indie polish maker Cirque Colors as part of the Heritage collection. It's a holographic polish in a resonant, shimmering medium-toned yellow-green that looks to be carrying microflake shimmers in addition to its holographic pigment. The microflakes gleam within the translucent jelly-like base, imparting a deliciously speckled look to the polish that twinkles discreetly as light travels over it. Holographically-nuanced hues of spring green, pistachio, pear, and avocado shade the base and give this green a particularly rich and dimensional quality. The base color brightens dramatically in the sun and displays a somewhat dispersed prismatic flare of bright chartreuse trimmed with sparks of spring green, turquoise and orange that frames a central lick of gleaming semi-metallic yellow-green and shades to avocado around the edges of the nail.

Application was amazing! The consistency of Panacea is fluid, light and very smooth, with a thin-to-medium viscosity and an effortless, self-leveling slip over the nail. This polish is quite willing to go on in ghostly-thin coats, a novelty for me with my medium-coat skills. In hindsight, though, I advise against giving in to that thin-coat siren song like I did, as the pigmentation is somewhat sheer and I ended up needing four coats for an opacity that I was comfortable with. Had I used slightly thicker coats, I probably would have needed only three. But four whisper-thin coats of this polish dry just as well as three medium ones with a fast dry topcoat, so it's all good. Cleanup is fairly straightfoward with a little stickiness on the part of the microflakes. Panacea dries naturally in very good time to a smooth, shiny finish.

Photos show four coats of Panacea over treatment and basecoat with a topcoat of Seche Vite.

This feisty, adventurous yellow-green is bold enough to wear all year round, but it's totally hot for summer and will certainly hold its own with any bright colors you might choose to deck yourself out in. I think it's especially fabulous with purples, wines and berried shades since I happen to be wearing those today. Ha!

For those who love greens on their nails, especially yellow-greens, this polish wields every must-have quality -- an excellent formula, brilliant saturated color, holographic sparkle... how can you resist? The sleek, shimmering finish adds a sophisticated air that works brilliantly with the audacious nature of the color. Banzai!

  1. Wow! Stunning color. This polish stopped me in my tracks! (trying to catch up on several days emails / blog notifications, at night with eyes at half-mast - actually dozing off for a bit here and there...) Ugh, I love this polish!

    1. This is certainly the sort of color that will wake you up, if only for a minute or two, ha! I love it too, it's so brash and full of good energy. It's a favorite this month!

I always try to read on the internet when I'm sleepy but there's just no keeping my eyes focused, everything goes blurry and the next thing I know I'm shaking myself awake. *lol* Get some sleep, my dear!
