Elevation Polish Cuernos del Paine

Cuernos del Paine was released by Minnesota-based indie polish maker Elevation Polish as part of the Patagonia collection in February 2014. Creator Lulu describes this as a "greeny mint" -- think Doublemint, it's the same sort of green as the packaging of Wrigley's venerable gum flavor. This is a tint or pastel variation of spring bud, a desaturated shade that has a certain neonesque pop to it. Compared to Elevation's Mount Wutai, a pastel spring green, this one leans more to the yellow side of the yellow/blue spectrum, similar to a slightly cleaner and brighter rendition of pistachio.

Application was great! The consistency of Cuernos del Paine is fluid, light and creamy with a thin-to-medium viscosity and a silky smooth slip over the nail. It has a really nice formula for a white-based polish, easy to manipulate with Elevation's round flexible brush and self-leveling like a dream. On my ridged nails, there was some streakiness to the first coat that mostly leveled out after the second, providing what I would call wearably opaque coverage. I added a third to completely quash the ridges, still discernible on a few nails at two coats. Cleanup is easy. Cuernos del Paine dries naturally in good time to a beautiful glossy finish.

Photos show three coats of Cuernos del Paine over treatment and basecoat with a topcoat of Seche Vite.

I love the bright beachy quality of this shade! It's a perfect alternative to the perennial summer favorite neon shade if neons aren't your thing, with a gorgeous creamy quality on the nail and the zesty freshness characteristic of greens.

Nice!

love,

  1. I had been wanting this polish for a couple of years and finally bought it recently in a destash. I had so many pastel green polishes that I kept putting it off!(But every time I would see it, that itch would set in, lol) This polish, to me, has an unusual pastel green / mint look to it that makes it different from my other 'similars'.

    1. This polish has that ineffeable quality of being particularly satisfying on the nail, it just feels extremely right when you've got it on. I absolutely loved wearing it and I think you will too, Lara. It's a bit more yellow-leaning than most pastel greens, very zippy and playful!
