Emily de Molly Beautiful Patterns

Beautiful Patterns was released by Australian indie polish maker Emily de Molly (EdM) in November 2015. Officially described as a medium blue-leaning purple subtle creme holo with white microflakes and a pink shine, the base color here is a misty, luminous cornflower blue. Scattered white microflake shimmers are suspended within, reading as pale azure and generating a delicate twinkle as light travels over them, as well as superabundant ultrafine pink particulate shimmers. These shimmers give the polish a transparent pink sheen, gently pushing the cornflower to a lavender look in certain lights and creating a silvery pink shimmering underbelly in direct light. In the sun, there's a dainty holographic flare of bright prismatic sparks predominated by azure, which reads as a vivid aqua against the base color. 

Application was delightful. The consistency of Beautiful Patterns is fluid, light and super smooth with a medium viscosity and a silky, self-leveling slip over the nail. It likes to go on in thin to medium coats and is easy to manipulate with EdM's sleekly compact flattened-style brush. Pigmentation is sheerish, building to wearable opacity in two medium coats, with fullest color delivered in three. Cleanup is easy and straightforward. Beautiful Patterns dries naturally in good time to a smooth, shiny finish. Topcoat pops the presence of the microflake shimmers and does not appear to affect the holographic properties of the polish in any way.

This is such an easygoing, serene shade. The shimmers make it special, with that delicate pink sheen and the way the microflakes glisten exquisitely in the light drawing the eye. On the nail it is particularly flattering, soft and pretty and ready to make you look like sweetness and light whatever devilry you may be up to!
