Lollipop Posse Lacquer A Party for Calming All Your Nerves

Like Dishing Just Desserts, A Party for Calming All Your Nerves was released in November 2016 by Ohio-based indie polish maker Lollipop Posse Lacquer as part of the Christmas Kiki collection. This collection was inspired by "Let's Have a Kiki" by Scissor Sisters, and all of the polish names were taken from the lyrics.

A Party for Calming All Your Nerves is described by creator Karen as "a matte, royal purple shade filled with blue-violet shifting shimmer." To my eye, there's a bit more red to that purple, especially visible in comparison to the bountiful blue-violet shimmers, a color more along the lines of a medium-dark patriarch purple. But you know me -- if there's a hair to split over tiny differences in color, I will have at it. Besides, the purple is actually more of a stage for the real star of this show: those color-shifting shimmers, which appear mostly as a brilliant electric indigo. The velvety matte finish really heightens the radiance of the shimmers, which create a gorgeous, glowy, dimensional swath of electric indigo along the axis of light.

Application was great! The consistency of A Party for Calming All Your Nerves is fluid, full bodied and slightly jelly-like with a medium-to-thicker viscosity that I added a squirt of polish thinner to at the outset. Thinned, it had a light, fluent glide over the nail that sets up fairly quickly but still provided window enough for a bit of finessing with LPL's flattened-style, flexible brush. As with Dishing Just Desserts, I was thrilled with the excellent self-leveling properties of this matte polish. No visible ridges! Pigmentation was sheerish and a little streaky on the first coat. It appeared wearably opaque after the second -- that is, until I got to looking at the pics, which showed unmistakable sheer patches in the base color. So I added a third and took another set of photos. Cleanup is easy. A Party for Calming All Your Nerves surface dries in very good time to a gorgeous, satin suede finish. It takes a while longer to dry all the way through, so take care to protect against marring during that time.

Photos show three coats of A Party for Calming All Your Nerves over treatment and basecoat, no topcoat.

In person, the shifting shimmers in the purple base create an almost duochromatic look, so stunning. I noticed that under incandescent like, they have much more of an amethyst color than the blue-ish electric indigo they show in natural light. Either way, the velvety matte finish just glows. I think it's fabulous!

love,
Liz
