A-England The Most Happy

I'm finally at the last of A-England's Tudoresque collection: The Most Happy. This polish is named with the motto of second wife Anne Boleyn, for whom marriage to Henry was likely the time that she really was at her happiest. The King's long awaited divorce from Katherine of Aragon, the impending birth of a child that both she and Henry hoped was a son, the love and adoration of the King and her upcoming coronation all contributed to this. For Anne, it probably seemed that a beatific future awaited her -- as it likely seemed to almost all of Henry's brides at one point.

Creator Adina describes The Most Happy as an "intense violet scatter holo." The color is a vibrant, saturated French violet, a clean, exuberant shade with (to my eye) a bit of a purple lean. Fine holographic pigment gives it a dimensional glow on the nail and a delicately-grained, velvety visual texture. I could swear that there are pink shimmers in there also, even more finely-milled perhaps than the holo pigment, which add a mist of glowing pink particles to the look in bright direct light, where there's also a graceful, traveling prismatic flush of pink and gold.

Application was great! The consistency of The Most Happy is fluid, light and creamy with a medium viscosity and a buttery, even, self-leveling slip over the nail, a superb formula that is a pleasure to finesse with the brand's new paddle-style brush. Pigmentation is excellent and will deliver wearably opaque coverage in a single medium coat, if desired, but use two to maximize the brilliant color and holographic effects. Cleanup is straightforward with a little bit of pigment travel, not unexpected in such a saturated color. The Most Happy dries naturally to a smooth, shiny finish. Topcoat does not inhibit the holographic properties of the polish in any way.

Photos show two coats of The Most Happy over treatment and basecoat with a topcoat of Seche Vite.

Purple is the color most associated with royalty, and this gorgeous purple-leaning violet certainly has that resplendent, regal quality. It is also intriguing and even a little seductive, I think, which makes it truly resonate over the stories of these women who became Queen.

What a fabulous collection, no? Here are links to my previous Tudoresque posts: Sir Loyal Heart, Katherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anne of Cleves, Catherine Howard, Katherine Parr. My favorites? I'd have to say Jane Seymour (green) and Anne Boleyn (red). Which are yours?

love,
Liz
