Don Deeva Mike Jones
Mike Jones was released this past fall, in November I think, by Florida-based indie polish maker Don Deeva. Officially described as "a gray base with a heavy violet shimmer and holo flake running throughout," the color is a translucent middle grey, perceptually about halfway between black and white, with aspects of slate and steel. Abundant luminous silvery holographic flakes speckle the finish and light up in shades of azure, spring green and gold as light travels over them, while fine violet shimmers give the polish a glowing lavender sheen and create a glistening lavender mist along the axis of light. Direct sun intensifies all aspects of the look.
Application was awesome. The consistency of Mike Jones is fluid, light and smooth with a medium viscosity and a fluent, silky, self-leveling slip over the nail, a biddable, user-friendly formula that is a pleasure to manipulate with Don Deeva's flattened-style brush. Pigmentation is somewhat sheer and meant to be that way -- layering a translucent formula to opacity creates a dimensional platform for its light-catching components. I think the color is best at three coats. Cleanup is easy. Mike Jones dries naturally in very good time to a smooth, shiny finish. Topcoat adds a becoming gloss that highlights the dimensionality of the polish and accentuates the effects of the violet shimmers.
Photos show three coats of Mike Jones over treatment and basecoat with a topcoat of Seche Vite.

Love the luminous lavender effect of those gorgeous violet shimmers and the way they sparkle in the light. The color adds a bit of coolness to the sleek dimensionality of the grey base, giving it character. I also love the colors I see in the holo flakes -- azure, spring green and gold -- and the combination of those colors with the lavender sparkle in the sun. I wasn't expecting to enjoy this polish as much as I do, but as usual with Danette's creations it's just so graceful and so beautifully constructed that I can't help myself! Still available in Don Deeva's online shop!
