ILNP Rogue

Rogue was released in November by Nevada-based indie polish maker ILNP as part of the Winter 2017 collection. It has a jelly base with color-shifting microflake shimmers and holographic particles in what I'd call a variation of red-violet with aspects of claret and mulberry, a bold, lively shade along the lines of Crayola's jazzberry jam. Abundant microflake shimmers with a red/pink/gold shift display a glittery twinkle in bright crimson within the base, adding dimensionality and warming the red-violet color to more of a garnet. The finish is liberally dusted with silvery holographic particles that light up in pinpoint prismatic sparks as light travels over them and create a brilliant blanket of scattered prismatic sparkle in direct light.

Application was quite agreeable. The consistency of Rogue is fluid, light and smooth with a medium viscosity and a fluent, silky, self-leveling slip over the nail, an excellent formula just as we've learned to expect from the brand. Pigmentation is very good and offers evenly opaque coverage in two medium coats. Cleanup scatters sticky sparkly bits over the nail environs that require a little tenacity to remove. Rogue dries naturally in very good time to a smooth, shiny finish. Topcoat accentuates the presence and color of the microflake shimmers.

Photos show two coats of Rogue over treatment and basecoat with a topcoat of Seche Vite.

You know, I'm not entirely convinced that those sparkly microflake shimmers aren't actually color-shifting microglitters. They are exceptionally twinkly and they stick like glitters too! Combined with the prismatic sparkle of the holographic bits, they add a ton of complementary light play and drama to the already vivacious red-violet base. A beautiful indie composition with a glamorous touch!

love,
Liz
