Zoya Rica

I have a gorgeous fiery jewel of a polish to show you in this post, Miss B. It's by Zoya and it's called Rica.

Zoya describes Rica as a "warm light coral with pink and orange tones and heavy gold metallic sparkle." That is a very rudimentary representation in my opinion. Rica is a sparkling pink grapefruity wonder with rosy overtones swimming with bright gold shimmer and drying to a foily sheen that flashes fiery orange or deep rosy pink or brilliant tangerine or as the light hits it. It is a sight in this world to be sure.

Fuzzy says it reminds her of Venice, Italy. It's got that gift-wrap-ribbon, stained glass thing going on.

For this manicure I used base and topcoats by Seche and three careful coats of Rica, making sure each coat was dry before applying the next. With abundant shimmer like this you will sure as shootin' get dragging and patching if you overwork the polish or apply additional coats too soon. Luckily I was able to take my time. Unluckily despite my diligence I did accidentally swipe skin and/or cuticle in spots. As you will see by the not-so-excellent clean-up in the photos, the shimmer is a PITA to remove from skin!

The formula itself was great with a nice liquid consistency and good flow. Whenever I am applying a Zoya polish I am almost always brimming with gratitude for their efforts to get all the details right when it comes to making a lovely easy-to-use product. The tapering rectangular bottle has a thick glass base for stability, shapely rounded corners and shoulders, a perfectly proportioned vase-shaped top and a classic architectural profile. The wand is neither too long nor too short. The medium sized round-bundled brush makes up about a third of the wand's length (the proportion is perfect, literally), with bristles that are flexible with just the right amount of resilience for guiding and and moving the polish easily around the nail.

Love letter to Zoya: great bottle, great brush, great polish, you're awesome. *lol*

Rica -- shall we? Let's! Photos were taken indoors and out, in direct and indirect natural light and shade. In short, all over the place.

For such a powerful fount of of color and bling, Rica has a surprisingly light feel on the nail and is easy and very very fun to wear. It's opulence is as effortless as it is lavish. So generous! Tell you what, that's a friend worth having.

Tell you something else, trying to do serious justice to this polish has about worn me out. See now would be the perfect time for an episode of Shaun the Sheep! Where is that funky little dude when I need him?

love,
Aunt Liz
