The polish is Mahi by one of our favorite indie polish makers, Candeo Colors.
Don't you just love that little chameleon? So cute! I want to clasp him to my bosom!
More than any other indie polish maker, Candeo seems to make polishes that when I see them I simply must have them. Three times now I've seen photos of a particular Candeo polish online and felt absolutely compelled to go straight to their website and buy them.
Mahi contains aqua/turquoise hexagonal glitter, gold hexagonal glitter, blue holographic glitter and iridescent microglitters in a shimmery aqua base. If there was such a thing as mermaid dust (you know, like fairy dust but for mermaids), it would look just like this polish.
Applying a polish that is jam packed with shimmer AND glitter like this one can be a little tricky because there tends to be sticking and dragging. I added a bit of polish thinner to Mahi before I applied it and had no problems except for one thumb, which I had to redo four times! I just couldn't get a clean edge on the nail tip.
For the most part, the glitters all lay down flat and smooth against the nail but you can see in some of the pictures (like the last one, look at the tip of the nail on my index finger, and also the extreme close up) that a few of the turquoise glitters stick out a bit. That kind of thing is why it took me four tries to get a clean edge on my thumb nail.
This was not a very "forgiving" polish, meaning when you're laying down a coat of it you better get it right the first time because if you try to go back over it when it's wet there is hell to pay. All kinds of dragging and patching and balding. That said, any application trickiness is worth it for a polish this lovely.
Photos show basecoat and three coats of Mahi and Seche Vite topcoat.

I think this polish is TDF lovely! I adore the misty shimmery base, I adore the tiny gold glitters, the color is just amazing, it looks so much like the ocean does in the shallow waters around the Bahamas and the Florida Keys. Just a perfect tropical summertime polish.
In real life it apparently looks a little bit greener than the pictures show, because when Fuzzy saw it she said, look at you with your green nails. Huh?
She and I were sitting out in the rocking chairs on the front porch watching a huge thunderstorm. Big big winds. Very exciting. The storm knocked out power for a whole bunch of folks near us, but thankfully not at our house (I think I'd just keel over without air conditioning). But we did lose the cable for over 24 hours, which meant no tv or internet connection plus Mom's phone is cable-based so she had no phone.
As you can see, it's fixed now. *grin*
Are you at camp yet?
love,
Aunt Liz
