Take the name, Chirality (pronounced kai'-rael-eh-tee), for example. I looked this up. Chirality is a form of imperfect mirror-image symmetry where a structure and it's mirror image are not superimposable. From Wikipedia: "Human hands are perhaps the most universally recognized example of chirality: The left hand is a non-superimposable mirror image of the right hand; no matter how the two hands are oriented, it is impossible for all the major features of both hands to coincide." Ah, clever kitten! If the human hand is the iconic chiral object, then nail painting is an endorsement of that fact.
Lo! With a simple manicure you can mine vast repositories of information. Who knew?
Eleanor, remember the dark green holo polish called Kale that I used for your manicure when I came to visit? That was a Chirality polish. I featured several Chirality polishes briefly here, and thought it was about time to devote some posts to them. They are wonderful polishes and certainly deserve it. So in this post I present to you Apollonia.
Apollonia is a beautiful rich dark violet scattered holo polish. It wants direct sunlight for the holo pigments to show their loose linear flair at its best but is quite lovely in indirect light as well, a creamy purple with a complex finely-grained appearance thanks to the silvery flecks of holographic pigment. It is beautifully formulated also, dense but smooth and flowing with perfect viscosity for precise application. AND it's a one-coater. No lie! I did two coats for the photos, but it needs only one for complete opacity. Apollonia dries quickly to a scrumptious satiny squeegee-esque (don't ask) finish.
Photos show two coats of Apollonia over Seche Rebuild and Butter London Nail Foundation with a topcoat of Seche Vite for color enhancement and gloss.

Love this! Apollonia, like the other Chirality holos that I own, is a supremely gratifying polish. The color is rich, beautiful and well-pigmented, it's a delight to apply, it's gorgeous on.
Amanda presents a short story, very concise, with each of her polishes. Here's the one for Apollonia:
Purified in the waters of Lake Minnetonka, Apollonia is the
pure definition of sexuality and beauty. She's a no-nonsense
kind of girl who will scratch her way to the top to get what
she desires. Her voice is strong and can be heard by everyone,
even through the rain. With the Time on her side, she's able to
obtain her dreams...and even sway the Kid she can't seem to
get enough of.
And in case you're wondering whether there's any special significance to the name, well of course there is! 358 Apollonia is a large asteriod in the asteriod belt that lies in our solar system between Mars and Jupiter. AND Saint Apollonia is the patron saint of dentistry and dental issues. Renaissance nerdiness -- it's a GREAT thing!
love,
Aunt Liz
Gah... Love this! The holo in this is perfection. Chirality is one of my favorites when it comes to scattered holos. I can never get enough.
ReplyDeleteMe either. They are so dense and lush, I want to eat them with a spoon!
