Initially, Midnight Mission was described by China Glaze as a "navy blue frost with silver microglitter," but I notice that they've taken the word "frost" out of the occasion (frost... baaaad word *a la George Carlin*) and it's now simply "navy blue with silver microglitter."
Ok probably this is just me and my OCD semantics and color purist issues, but when I think of navy blue I think of it without embellishment or addition. Don't be gilding that lily! It's a CLASSIC, not a catch all. Know what I mean? Add an extraneous component to a navy nail polish and it's no longer navy, it's a different species and should be treated as such. There are plenty of other dark blues out there, let's give them their due spot in the sun.
Pardon me while I perform a flying dismount from the high horse. Watch me stick the landing... Yes! And the crowd goes wild....
Midnight Mission is a well-pigmented ultramarine, deep denim blue polish with silvery shimmer flecks that give it a speckled sort of dusty look and a subdued foily finish. It is a beautiful elegant graceful polish. Look closely and you will see how well it lives up to its name. The effect reminds me of a screensaver I used to run on my Mac Centris that was like looking through a windshield in space at warp speed with bazillions of stars streaking by. Midnight Mission is deep blue space with streaming shimmer bits like streaking stars.
It's a well formulated polish, fluid with sufficient viscosity for easy application. Thank you China Glaze! Blue polishes are notorious for staining but I didn't notice any during my clean up. Speaking of, I must warn you that once again I overlooked prepping my hands prior to photographing this polish. I was in a hurry to catch the last light! My apologies for your having to suffer through the acetone residue, dry skin and and unhappy worn out rubbery looking cuticles. Forgive!
Photos show two easy coats of Midnight Mission over my treatment and basecoat, topped by the inimitable Seche Vite. The first five pics were taken indoors with incandescent and natural light, no flash and no adjustment to my camera. The rest were taken outside in the early evening at last light.

Chic! And sleek! This is hot. I like it very much. On the nail Midnight Mission has an overt silvery shimmer, stronger than the photos show, that keeps it from heaviness and adds to the interesting denim-esque aspect of the look.
What about you, Eleanor? You could totally rock this pretty dark blue on your tiny talons if you wanted to. Question is, would you?
love,
Aunt Liz
