I've been trying to accommodate my
One Trick Pony was released as part of CrowsToes' One Mad Crazy Summer collection for summer 2013. It is a purple/green duochrome holographic polish. It has a deep aubergine purple base that shows a subtle color shift to green in certain lights and is full of fine holographic pigments that, given the slightest provocation, produce a beautiful dark linear prismatic display. The effect when not in direct or bright diffuse light is of a rich gleaming dark violet purple with complex multicolored speckles of pigment clearly visible.
The formula was excellent, liquid but dense with the slight jelly-like stickiness I've now come to expect from CrowsToes. Once again I was kind of heavy handed with the polish load on the brush but One Trick Pony, being user friendly as it is, kept me from getting into too much trouble. Pigmentation is also excellent with complete coverage and great opacity in two coats. One Trick Pony dries naturally in good time to a smooth shiny finish.
Photos show two coat of One Trick Pony over treatment and basecoat with a topcoat of Seche Vite. I detected no alteration of the holographic flair either in strength or intensity with the addtion of topcoat.

One Trick Pony could stand on its holographic merits alone but the color shifting duochromatic base adds a certain influence to its composition that is lavish, moody and seductive. Thought subtle, you catch the shift in gradual doses, glowing over the purple like an inverted misty green shadow. This is the kind of finesse that produces those involuntary sighs of surprise and delight. I am full of admiration for Lauri's formulary skills, she seems to be able to create polishes that couple strength and delicacy at once. It's an ability that has won her many fans.
Count me in!

We think it is fabu that you take so many photos - thank you for sharing! Just picked this up today and was curious if we should layer it over another color or on its own :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, I'm glad you enjoy the photos! You don't need to layer this one, it does wonderfully on its own.
