CrowsToes Indian Summer

For today I have the third polish by indie polish maker CrowsToes from my little spree at Llarowe. It's Indian Summer, a fantastic multichrome polish that Lauri describes as a "burgundy based purple" with a "magenta to orange color shift." The colors and sheen on this lacquer are out of this world! It's the most beautiful multichrome I think I've ever seen.

Indian Summer has a deep royal purple jelly base color with color shifting pigments that break out in exquisite sunset colors as light hits them through the purple base. They're all here, the violet, the deep purple, the deep bright berry red, magenta, flame, blood orange... even the ethereal glowing blue that hems the sunset's glow next to the night sky can be seen in the reflection of light off of the purple. You know how when you see a particularly brilliant sunset that just at it's end, when all of those fabulous glowing colors are hugging the horizon? That is what Lauri has managed to capture here. I've dreamed of a polish that had those colors but I never thought I would ever see it.

This polish is essentially a jelly and it has a great formula. The consistency is similar to Hellhound, liquid but dense, with a smooth oily texture and a little bit stickiness if overworked. It's translucent, so coverage and color are buildable. As with Hellhound, Indian Summer dries naturally in good time to an absolutely gorgeous glossy sheen. My application left something to be desired, unfortunately, but far be it from me to list my sins with this manicure when photos of such a stunning polish await.

Photos show three coats of Indian Summer over Seche Rebuild treatment and Butter London Nail Foundation basecoat with a topcoat of Seche Vite. Please pardon the flaky fingers. It was cold and windy when I took Chi over to the dog park yesterday and I didn't wear gloves. When will I learn?

Indian Summer has this incredible depth to it. You feel as though it's as fathomless as the atmosphere that screens and fashions the poignant horizon colors of twilight. This is the kind of polish that you find yourself staring at and thinking about all kinds of random things, like the lyrics of American Pie or the last time you saw the ocean. It's a right brain polish, the kind that makes words fail.

This keen beauty goes right to treasured status. It's one for the books.

love,
Aunt Liz
