CrowToes Hellhound

Hellhound was recently released by indie polish maker CrowsToes (facebook, blog) as part of its Better Late Than Never collection for fall 2013. This polish is such a stunner, I just love it! It has a translucent deep ruby burgundy base filled with color shifting glass fleck shimmer that changes from bright berry red to orange to gold depending upon the angle of light. Fantastic!

The consistency is fluid with a slightly sticky viscosity and a supremely self-leveling, fast-drying formula. It's slightly thicker than Seche Vite, for example, and has the Vite's propensity for film forming. Application is best done in thin coats in good time, but you know me. I applied thicker coats than necessary and despite my best intentions tended to overwork the lacquer on the nail. But Hellhound is a user friendly polish that forgives the foibles of the undisciplined. It pulled no patches and did not bubble. Coverage is very good with bottle color and full opacity achieved in two coats. The pigments are non-staining and clean up was easily done. Hellhound dries naturally in good time to a glossy finish. It's one of those polishes that looks wet even though it's dry.

Did I mention how amazing this polish is yet?

Photos show two coats of Hellhound over treatment and basecoat with a topcoat of Seche Vite.

The sheen this polish has is just gorgeous, never mind the flame colored dimensionality of the glass flecks! Truly I don't think I could ever say enough about the beauty of this lacquer, it is indeed perfection, as Ida from IdaNailsIt called it.

Love!

    1. Thank you, Thithi! This polish is even prettier in person, I wish I could have captured more of the shift in my photos.
