Elevation Polish Puncak Jaya

Puncak Jaya (pronounced PUNT-shah JA-ja... or thereabouts) was released by indie polish maker Elevation Polish in March of this year as part of the Summit Collection Part 1. It's a light but vibrant robin's egg blue with superabundant shimmers and flakies in blue and teal. These components provide subtle visual texture, giving the polish a true speckled egg look at close range and adding an exquisite tone-on-tone dimpled look to the finish, like raindrops hitting water. But the encompassing sky blue base color is totally the star of this show. It's got a refreshing buoyant outdoorsy vibe that radiates relaxation and good spirits and impromptu convivial gatherings outdoors at twilight in the summertime... Well, maybe not the last part, but it would go well with such an event should it occur!

Application was quite congenial. The consistency of Puncak Jaya is creamy and dense with an unusual graininess to it from all the shimmers and flakies. It wants to go on in medium coats, but is easier to control and apply evenly with thin ones. Pigmentation is outstanding for a whitened color, with opacity entirely attainable in one medium coat without any streakiness or dragging. This is the sort of polish that self-levels as it sets and dries, not right away. Topcoat helps. Puncak Jaya dries naturally in good time to a shiny finish with the tiniest bit of texture to it from the components.

Photos show two coats of Puncak Jaya over treatment and basecoat with a topcoat of Seche Vite.

This is an artisinal quality polish on every level, from the formula to the composition to the colors to the finish. It has complete integrity. I love the way the it feels on the nail, not metaphorically either (although that's true also). Physically. It feels solid as a rock! Like I could go out and prune trees and pull weeds all day and come in with nothing but minor tip wear.

love,
Liz
