Laquerlicious Lady Liberty

Today I have a beautiful fun polish from new-to-me indie polish maker, Laquerlicious. This is yet another polish where blog swatches incited my exaggerated covet response and I immediately clicked over to the Laquerlicious etsy shop and snapped it up. It's called Lady Liberty.

Michelle, owner and creative force behind Laquerlicious, describes Lady Liberty as having "a creamy minty aqua base with gold and caramel micro glitter and gold micro flake." The base is a medium copper-patina turquoise blue in a formula that is almost a cream, with just a little bit of translucency to it to allow copper and gold glitters to peek through. This is not an overly glittery polish, it has just the right amount to work harmoniously with the turquoise base and produce a delicious speckled look with sparkling glints of light from the reflective metallic glitters. A very well-composed polish!

Application was great. Laquerlicious polishes come with a substantial, slightly flattened brush with soft flexible bristles that hold a lot of polish and fan out nicely over the nail, and a slightly squared off handle that is comfortable in the hand and makes the polish easy to open. The consistency of Lady Liberty is fluid and creamy, easy to manipulate, with excellent flow over the nail. Pigmentation is very good. The first coat goes on a bit sheerly but with two coats builds to complete opacity. Lady Liberty self-levels nicely as it sets and dries. It dries naturally in average time to a smooth, slightly flat finish with a little bit of texture from the glitter components. You don't need any special topcoats to smooth the surface, one coat of Seche Vite worked great for me.

Photos show two coats of Lady Liberty over treatment and basecoat with a topcoat of Seche Vite.

On the nail, Lady Liberty has a turquoise gemstone look that is gentle but still summery. Such a lovely polish! I can't speak about longevity because I've only worn it for two days, but it FEELS like it would wear well, if that counts for anything. If you love turquoise or minty blue shades, this is one I'd definitely recommend for its sweet application and inclusion of copper and gold elements. I have nothing like it in my stash, and I'm really enjoying wearing it.

love,
Liz

ps. You won't need to break out the foil to remove this puppy, only a little extra elbow grease. Hurray!

  1. I'm really happy that you've tried out Laquerlicious! It's one of my absolute favorites. I have Lady Liberty but I haven't tried it yet. It's so pretty though. I'm pretty sure it's one of the first polishes that I ever wanted from the brand. By the way, Michelle has a ton of other polishes up at her Big Cartel site!

    1. I noticed that you had tons of her glitters in your haul posts, Melissa! I did spend some time exploring the polishes in her big cartel store and really enjoyed myself. I remember the polishes for pitbulls from when I first came across Laquerlicious on etsy, what a great cause! I love her tiny glitter jellies, where she combines complementary colors in glitters and flakies! I think I may have to grab Pink Moon for the name alone....
