Application was lovely. The consistency of Sassy Ass Mouth is fluid, smooth and dense with a velvety glide over the nail and a beautifully balanced viscosity for painting. Self-leveling properties are very good, with some nail ridge visibility from beneath the polish that is mostly camouflaged by its gorgeous dimensionality. Pigmentation is out of this world awesome, with evenly opaque coverage and full bottle color in one medium coat. I added a second in hopes of vanquishing the ridges, but they insisted upon remaining in attendance. Cleanup is to be approached with caution, as there's potential for a good bit of pigment travel with trace staining, but it actually cleans up pretty well provided you remember to do so (ahem). Sassy Ass Mouth dries naturally in very good time to a smooth, fairly shiny finish that still benefits from a glossy topcoat, which really accentuates the indigo flare. As far as I could tell on this overcast day, topcoat did not appear to diminish the holographic effects in any way.

I don't think I'll be able to hang on to this one for long, a lacquer this awesome simply must be shared! I have an appointment with my GP tomorrow for a renewed discussion about my blood pressure (more fun than throwing up), and I think I'll carry this delectable bonbon with me to gift to the first person who comments on my manicure. I love doing that, and it will certainly help to offset the generally discouraging facts of my personal health.
It's a plan so cunning you could pin a tail on it and call it a weasel! Well, maybe not. But it's a plan.

Backtracking a moment - I had read all the blogs I had email notifications for this morning, had gone through my entire email looky loos and ended up with an empty email box and was preparing to log out. I was sorta feeling that tiny bit of letdown - the kind you get when you don't want to give it up, want to continue reading/seeing notification for blogs. Yeah, I could just Google more blogs, but it's not the same. Anyway, I was just about to hit the Logout button when, low and behold, up popped your email notification. I was 'kinda' delighted that not only was there another blog to read, but that it was yours! I knew I was in for a treat of beautifully penned words and photos!
Your appreciative observation had me drooling, and then the photos came into view. LOL, no contest - red holo polish makes me insanely happy! My brain freezes and I can only emit a hushed Wow...
p.s. Just back from buying it. Also picked up Nightbird - I have been wanting that one for quite awhile. And, omg, why is The Alchemist on Last Call!!! I love that polish. Hahahah, if I'm not careful, I'll have an entire wall rack of red nail polish in every finish available! Oh, and was tempted very strongly to get a few from the Hug My Face collection. She makes such gorgeous polish!
Hooray, good for you for getting the polish that makes you insanely happy, Lara!! THAT is what this hobby/ritual/adornment or whatever one chooses to call it is all about. Exactly that! I'm not really a goal maker or life planner but I do use two large all-encompassing objectives to help steer my decisions and responses and they are truth and joy. With this small purchase, you've accomplished both! That is big success in my book.

I love The Alchemist too, as well as its sister polish The Arcanist. Two amazing reds. I think I know exactly how it feels to be so thrilled by red holos.
My blood pressure turned out to be much better than I expected. That was actually the bright spot of the appointment. Well, one of the bright spots. The other was when my GP's nurse complimented my manicure and I promptly pulled Sassy Ass Mouth out of my pocket and presented it to her. She was so surprised and pleased and I got a spontaneous hug, which made me very happy.
And on a sidenote .. . . hope the East Coast is not terribly impacted by the hurricane. Living on the Gulf Coast, I know what it is like to go through the preparation, duration and aftermath of them. Ugh
ReplyDeleteIt's Saturday, 3 October now so we are getting what will probably amount to the fullest impact that Joaquin will have in central NC where I live. It's a lot of rain and big gusty winds, but not anywhere near the worst sort of experience one can have when it comes to hurricanes. For our part of the state, that prize definitely goes to Fran 1996.
DeleteThe low barometric pressure that accompanies these and most big storms even if they aren't hurricanes actually gives me a really wonderful euphoric feeling. I've learned that this is a common phenomenon among major depressives, but the hows and whys are a mystery. So don't worry about me, I'm actually feeling kinda super awesome today!
