Glam Polish Cha-Ching

Like Cash or Credit, Cha-Ching was released by Australian indie polish maker Glam Polish as part of the Limited Edition Black Friday Duo on 27 November this year. Like its partner, this is another holographic microglitter bomb and my favorite of the two. It carries superabundant holographic microglitters and small hexes in black, white and silver mixed with relatively large-particled silvery holographic pigment in a clear suspension base. At arm's length in low light it has the appearance of a silvery ash grey deliciously speckled with the black microglitters. Under closer scrutiny you immediately encounter a subtle blue glow from the holo pigment as well as profuse prismatic sparkle, which increases in density and brightness to an utterly blingtastic display in direct sun, where there's even a dispersed, vestigial linear flare visible at oblique angles.

Application of Cha-Ching was less intimidating today after yesterday's experience with Cash or Credit. The consistency of Cha-Ching is fluid and dense with components, but not difficult to work with. It has a an easy self-leveling glide over the nail with excellent component payoff. I took care to ensure that the components distributed as evenly as possible down the nail to the free edge, and used three coats for completely opaque coverage, performing any necessary cleanup as I went along. Cha-Ching dries naturally in good time to a gently textured, shiny finish. I used one coat of a dedicated glitter-smoothing topcoat to even out the surface, followed by a layer of Seche Vite.

Adding that third coat made for a significantly bulkier-looking manicure than yesterday's, I think. It turned out more opaque overall, but the opacity of Cash or Credit at only two coats was mostly an issue for its appearance in the photos, not in person, whereas a bulky, thick-looking manicure is bulky and thick-looking in photos and in person both. Holly of The Nail Tales handled this issue by layering Cha-Ching over a silver holo. But others have managed to render this polish opaque in only two coats, even under the scrutiny of macro. I have yet to master that kind of application skill, where I'm able to transfer sufficient components to the nail for complete coverage without also ending up with too much bulk-building base on there also. 

One of those nail polish versions of a men from the boys kind of thing, is what that is. And yes, I do actually ponder such issues -- no hill for a climber!  -- which may well be just another indication of my unruly mental hygiene.

Rachel, the owner and creative force behind Glam Polish, possesses formulary skills that are renowned when it comes to combining holographic, glitter and shimmer components. Cha-Ching is an excellent example of the kind of seamless composition she creates with these materials, where all contribute to a look without overshadowing each other. There appears to be no limit to her capacity for combining these elements in new ways. It's amazing!
